Topic: Tagging a bunch of videos at once?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Can someone suggest a way to change a bunch of AVI/MPG file tags so you can change the genre? I am looking to using Filter Folders and I have about 4000 videos and don't want to tag them all individually. I've got them already seperated into virtual folders... help!

Currently you'd have to use a 3rd party program to do any batch editing, etc...

TAG N RENAME can do this to MPG files as easily as it does MP3 files.

But I'm not sure about AVI files, etc...

Good Luck,

DJ TAO :)

One way to get started may be to seperate them into seperate folders if you don't mind unsorting them from the way they are now. Found a tilte on download.com...

http://www.download.com/abcAVI-Tag-Editor/3000-2169_4-10411621.html?tag=mncol

didnt have time to look at it but it may help...

I have a MP3 tag editer called mp3 tag studio that i found on download.com as well for MP3 files... It can tag the mp3's from the folders they are in.

I know that wont work for avi or MPEG movies but it just shows you there is probably a software out there to help you...

Do a google search or search on download.com.

Have fun dude!

Tag & Rename doesn't make the tags readable in VDJ, that's the problem. Re-tagging one by one sounds dreadful. And I would just do it in the VDJ library xml file in an xml editor, but that corrupts the file.

This is pretty weak.

tag n rename works for mp4 and mp3 as well as other movie formats. thats all i use.

Do I have to rescan the file or something? Because when I change the tag in T&R it doesn't show the right info in VDJ. It shows none.

not sure i tag them before i open them in cue. try adding them to your search db. re scan one see if it changes it. trial and error.

I wonder if Cue and VDJ have different engines for this.
