What is HID Protocol

Q. What is HID?

HID stands for Human Interface Device and is used by USB devices such as keyboards, mice, etc. to communicate with the computer.

It is a more recent protocol than MIDI and has several advantages over MIDI, in particular for advanced functionality such as display screens and high-resolution jogwheels. Please see HIDvsMIDI.

HID controllers are less common because not all DJ software supports this protocol. VirtualDJ fully supports mapping both MIDI and HID controllers.
