one SUIDI box and one dmx patch box

So has Anyone have this little box in they're possesion and gotten VDJ to controll the lighting?

PLease post and vids or links to tutorials.

Ok all. I've got the Enttec usb pro box in my possession now. I've also had to make a 5 pin to 3 pin adapter (box has 5 pin outlets, most dmx controlled products have 3 pin oulets). If you are able to turn a solder on and not burn yourself, then you should have little problems (I only burnt myself once, YAY!)

I went with the pro as A) Micro processor enabled (to lesson the burden on ur pc). B) 1500 V full isolation (data & power lines to protect your computer from surges).

Anyway, since I had gig on weekend I've had little chance to test it with VDJ, but this will be a priority this week.

I'm yet to make / buy a terminating plug and I have gone with using XLR microphone cables over dedicated DMX cables. I figure that if it's needed then I'll buy it.

Equip list is;

Light Emotion KINTA: DMX, 80 rotating beams, sound active, master/slave, uses 2 x 64514 lamps (included)

Light Emotion 3D Magic: Dynamic 4 channel DMX fixture produces unique 3D patterns.

Light Emotion 100mW green laser: DMX or sound activated patterns

Smoke machine: DMX and wireless remote controlled.

I'll be back tomorrow for another update.

Keep me psoted bish - cause I've been looking into dmx controllers and this usb box and a 2U rack dmx controller are about the same price.
Only problem is I can opnly get the Sunlight brand usb dongle from an online corporate website. No retailers carry it here

Ok I'm back for an update. So far I've learnt that it's a lot more difficult than I originally thought to set up. My lighting guy now has taken over this project so I can now only wait till he gets a breakthrough.

It does seem like VDJ is limited in what it can do DMX wise but I can't say for sure until we explore all avenues.

If anyone else has this product feel free to jump onboard, otherwise I'll keep posting and will def post pics etc, when we get it set up.

Also I would agree with what Skyfxl says. If you can get software with DMX-USB package I would go for that option.

Keep us posted bish. It sound very interesting. I am actually waiting on my purchase of VDJ until I see what you can do with the DMX.

Seems to briefly described as a feature, but no information of this feature is included in the manual. I like the idea of controlling all aspects of my show from one unit, being VDJ. Video/Lights/Music. What are the full capabilities of the DMX feature, and how do you go about using it? Also what hardware would be required?

Besides the DMX feature of a software. What else are you looking for that would sway your decision one way or another.

I'm slightly confused.

Sky was saying that the only supported device was the Sunlight brand.

bish is useing the Entec box.

Does the entec box work with VDJ? Can it controll lights?

no it doesnt , only the one is

i like dmx
"lets get it on!!!" grrrr

You didn;t finish you sentence. LOL

Do me a favour sky - can you post a link so that I'm sure I'm looking at the same unit as your talking about?

Or was the link I posted earlier in this thread the correct company and unit?

If I remember correctly it is this unit, the SIUDI-5C.
Ewout

yes it is the siudi 5

which i posted before :)

Well to be honest, this would be it. Well maybe not.

Two things are keeping me into VDJ over serrota.
1). The ability to use your own hardware (ie: RME HDSP RPM), and not be limited to some junky USB rebranded crap.
2). The ability to control lights.

The video thing was on this list, but seems that soon VDJ will not be the only one doing this.

Okay, I took a look at the interface, and it's okay. $159 US for the unit, not bad. Does not work with the current sunlite software package. Does come with a developer SDK, and drivers so you can code your own.

The hardware price is great, lack of software sucks. I have the ability to play with the SDK, but I'm sure not everyone does.

Also looks as if daslight rebranded this, and sells it with software, but you would have to ask them if it's the same card.

I think VDJ is on to something with the DMX control, but will need to focus on it a bit over the next couple of updates to get it really goin'.

Wheres bish gone? Update?

Update comin shortly. Sorry for lack of response.

Well,

Now with VirtualDJ 6.0.3 is easiest than ever... You just need any USB DMX controller and if it has drivers for Windows, install them and that's VirtualDJ need to use it.

Now you have to program it as you do in a MIDI device, the functions available are:

dmx
dmx_color
dmx_chase
dmx_strobe
dmx_black
dmx_flash
dmx_setvalue

Not sure but seems this work too with VirtualDJ and don't cost to much
