Topic: Virtual DJ 5.0 for PC / Cross Platform Feedback

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey just wondering if anyone has tried VDJ 5.0 on a Mac using Boot Camp or etc. Wondering how it runs.

Nice Website ATOMIX.

I take it version 5.0 for Mac is coming soon too?

Soon as the 5.0 for Virtual Vinyl/Cue gets launched I will using it with Bootcamp. I'll let you know.

For me Virtual DJ 5.0 works fine on the window side of my macbook, but I am not interested in using it. I am sticking to the Mac version. I hope the Dev team release the Mac version soo!

I'm installing VDJ 5.0 onto vista ultimate on my MacBook Pro right now and am going to give it a thorough run at home today through tomorrow afternoon.

I have my weekly Wed/Thurs gig to do and need to know if this is a good solution right now until the Mac version comes out shortly.

I went with vista this time per dj-in-norways advice that it handles video better, although I didn't have any problems with xpee other than the fact that xp looks like a first grader designed it with crayons.

I'll report back tomorrow afternoon/early evening on whether this set-up works well with TCV's or if I had to trash it and go back to xpee.

Got a bunch of problems with my Macbook pro, dont know how much it has to do with running dual boot, i take it non.. but you know how they react its always your hardware, if you interested i have posted my problems on the PC tech forum (why i cant bring vd5 to gigs yet)... I guess it has a lot to do with your soundcard setup... i have a nasty feeling firewire 800 external drives aint the way to go either... but the more days i fiddle around ill have a better idea...

conquest, how did it go with vista?

No stuttering, freezes, crashes, etc. for VDJ 5 mixing videos and visual elements. No sound problems either.

Version 5 has a problem playing most of my vob files now. I never had this problem with 4.3 so I wasn't sure if it was something to do with my mac running bootcamp or and actual VDJ problem. After more testing its was also the case on my PC. I am disapointed. :-( I hope this problem is resolved soon because I am NOT going to re rip all my DVD's.

Please all see the post (why you cant use vdj5..) in the pc tech section... they are blaming all my problems on running macbook pro and bootcamp...

The funny part is 4.3 didnt have many problems like 5 has....

I just read through that whole thread Ruudboy.

cstoll is right in that you need to stop naming threads and saying thing like "VDJ 5 can't be used in serious gigs yet." You may not be able to, but I and several others can and have been.

I GUARANTEE you that your gigs are no more "serious" than mine and many others on these forums.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Santa Rosa chipset MacBook Pro myself, but others on these forums do and are reporting no problems.

Also, it's good that you're up to date on your version of Boot camp (v1.4), but even with v1.3 I wasn't having audio problems which is what you have indicated is all you're using VDJ for.

No, it seems that you are having some other issues entirely. Although you say you've done a clean install of windows via Boot Camp on your Mac, make sure it is a legit copy of windows with full updates.

I've been noticing that some people are installing cracked versions of windows and wondering why their programs like VDJ are broken, when actually it's their cracked copy of windows that is broken (even more so than the garbage windows already is even if it's legit and shipped from microsoft).

If that's not the case, then I hope that someone with a Santa Rosa chipset MacBook Pro will come here and further assist you and I'm sorry for your frustration, but we'll work it out. =)

Also, as sky stated in that thread, give the team a chance to respond to your ticket.

I just got home from a gig. My first time using 5.0. I played for 5+ hours straight. ALL VIDEOS. No problems.

Oh and by the way, I did this on a MacBook Pro in Bootcamp. A year and a half old (1st gen) MacBook Pro.

Oh and by the way, this "old" MacBook Pro out-performs brand new Dell Laptops while running Windows. Hah!

Trust me, I set up new Dell D630's all day long at my day job.

The day Atomix makes VDJ a priority on Mac and not the "red-headed-step-child" is the day it rules the market!

Oh and by the way, my gig gives me free drinks all night long. So I'm drunk and a bit of an ass right now. Macs Rule Sucka's!

-VJ Rhettnificent out!
p.s. Fix "Coverflow" Yo!

ROFLMAO!!! =D

I'm not drunk, but I'll drink to EVERYTHING you said rhettnificent. ;)

Right down to using VDJ 5 for windows via Boot Camp v1.4 on a 1st gen 1.83Ghz MacBook Pro Core Duo (NOT even a 64-bit Core 2 Duo) and a 128Mb VRam ATI Radeon x1600 with 2Gb's of system ram for 4-5+ hours straight with NO PROBLEMS.

I can't seem to get extended desktop to work in Boot Camp with XP on my Mac Book Pro. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT Card, can ANYONE tell me how to get this to work?? I have no problems in any regular PC computers.
