Hi, i allmost smashed my mac today as i tried to open vdj.
It worked yesterday, i need it for some work today and all it says is "internal database is corupted".
I´ve seen this on pc aswell but i dont remember how i fixed it.
After i press ok it says
"Invalid skin file (error line %i in the xml)"
Now i´ve moved all the files to the trash, and erased them, reinstalled and the same prob, done the same thing, tested with both the 12 and 13 vers (13 is the latest) and none of them are working, i´ve unzipped the skins but it did´nt help either.
Ive erased everything i´ve had when i searched for virtual dj. Restarted, installed restarted again, same problem...
Im sp frustrated, coz it feels like i´ve tested it all.
But it wont work no matter what i do.
How do i uninstall programs if it isnt just moving them to the trash as i´ve done.
Or even better how do i fix this problem

as i detailed in my email to you must not unzip the skins
and if they become unzipped in downloading you must zip them back up
or they wont work.
should after zipping the files back up it still wont run
delete this file /Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.atomixproductions.virtualdj.plist
then rerun vdj it will ask for your serial ,
and then it will be fixed
you will not loose your database

Same problem here on my Windows side yesterday. "Internal Database Corrupted". Once I get my Nou 4 going I need to sort this also.

Thing is this happend before i even sent a pm to you (thank you VERY much for the skins) about the skins, this happend when i downloaded 2 skins WITHOUT touching them at all.

lets try one last thing first
ok go to documents > virtual dj
and open up the file virtualdjdatabase(users).XML
in text edit.
and look near the end
ensure all the song tags are closed
they should look like this

download the free trial of Zap , the uninstaller for mac
and use it to remove virtual dj completely, unfortunately apple did not include an uninstaller in osx !
it should remove all the files for you so you may begin a fresh

Opened in Textedit, and found no songs (just the sample songs) Without the <song> bla bla bla </song> Like in html...

That database contains nothing but the samples.
Just delete it, and start VDJ again, letting it build a new one.
Since you aren't loosing anything.
Unless you are opening the wrong XML file?
The PC version has two, where one is the one in use, called VirtualDJ Database(user name).xml
Dont have a mac (yet) so cant say for sure if its the same on the mac

unfortunately im not convinced the mac database is rebuilt because when i have tried this the program wouldnt run at all it says invalid DB

Progress, progress..
I Zapped vdj (hahaha what an app, ill buy it because of the sounds :D) and the install files, loads of files where still there but i thought appzapper would do it...
so i let the remaining files be.
Reinstalled, started, serial, basic skin not ask me next time and then check for uppdates...
It waited a sec and then said database corupted as before, i got ready to slam my head into the table and pressed ok...
The computer looked at me for a second from the camera laying there on the table all depressed.... And then decided to be nice and started vdj without any problems :)
Now all i have to do is downloading the last uppdate again and see if it works...
Thx for telling my macbook whats right and whats wrong. My love for my mac is back again :D

The computer looked at me for a second from the camera laying there on the table all depressed.... And then decided to be nice and started vdj without any problems :)
Now all i have to do is downloading the last uppdate again and see if it works...
Thx for telling my macbook whats right and whats wrong. My love for my mac is back again :D

Im having this problem : invalid skin file (error line %i in the xml)
have tried deleting the file mentioned, but all it does is ask me to enter serial number then same problem.
please help

p.s. just realised i have not registered my copy yet, ill get on that one in a mo.
Also i am using a mac os x 10.4, buthad same problem, so upgraded OS to snw leopard and still same issue
