Topic: mp3 play list. VDJ won`t recognize songs in list

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

before buying VDj I was and still remain a big fan of winamp.
I created some mp3 playlist with winamp which did work well for the trial version of VDJ.
After I bought the Home edition I cannot really explain what is happening.
When I try to load a song from the play list on the deck, it says error.
I even created a new play lists but it still won`t load.
Anyone had similar problem before?

I did try to check on the decoders but can`t figure out what actually is the problem.

VDJ should read m3u playlist files ok, something is wrong. What is the exact version of your home version?

I am using version 3.4.1 Home Edition.
I did try to add the m3u extension and did choose MP3 decoder for it.
I don`t know if that is the right combination.
Will be glad for any help.

Thanks.

No reason to add anything in the decoder section - if you have something in there for M3U remove it.

M3U are text files and you can open the file with notepad and see what the PATH and file references are. If any of those files have moved location on the hard drive or have been deleted VDJ will show ERROR in the deck if you try to drag one to it.

When you select one of the Playlists from the left folder browser do you see the list of files in the center panel file browser?

Where do the files exist on an external hard drive?

i have remove the m3u in the decoder section restarted VDj but it didn`t change.

"Where do the files exist on an external hard drive?"

The play list and the files are all stored on the computer hard drive.

"When you select one of the Playlists from the left folder browser do you see the list of files in the center panel file browser?"

Yes when I select a play list, the files in it are listed in the center panel.

And when you select a file and drag it to a player what is the result? Does the deck's display read - Error?

Were you able to do this -
"M3U are text files and you can open the file with notepad and see what the PATH and file references are. If any of those files have moved location on the hard drive or have been deleted VDJ will show ERROR in the deck if you try to drag one to it. "

I did delete the play lists and create a new one.
Of course it still didn`t work.

I just checked the German forum and noticed that someone has excatly same problem and posted a similar mail.
See here - assuming you read and understand German.
