I have a Dj console Mk2 and it worked well untill i got a new laptop HP Pavillion. Now its sounds really bad. Its not a static sound. I can only herar when i play music or other windows sounds. Same when i play a regular CD.
But there are no problem when i connect it to my regular compaq pc. So it must be in the software or maybe the laptop?
I have tried to reinstall and upgrade all drivers. Also tried all volym anda eq settings.
I have talked to hercules service but the only say that if it works on other computers then theres nothing wrong with it.
I bought it for my girlfreinds party on saturday but now i cant use it :(
I really hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance

Your probably experiencing a very common problem with laptops, and even audio equipment in general, called ground-loop.
This happens because of (faults) in your electricity/power outlets.
There are several ways to solve it:
1) Try connect your laptop to different power outlet
2) Try connecting your laptop to a NON GROUND outlet, either directly, or using extention cord, or plug.
3) Get a ground loop eliminator (from local radio or hifi store)
4) Break off ground (NOT RECOMMENDED! Can both kill your hardware, and even you! So dont listen to anyone giving this tip)
There are more ways too, depending on what country you live in.
To find out if its ground loop or not, simply run the laptop on batteries (not connected with power cord), and if the noize is gone, its ground loop ;)

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have tried to run it on batteries and changed power outlet. I have also used same with my old laptop with no problems.
If its a static sound and ground problem, dont you hear it even when the music is off?
I live in Sweden

yes that can happen...
BUT, if you run on batteries the noize should be gone..
If its still there, when running on batteries, its NOT ground loop...
hmmm

K...
One possible issue out of the way then.
But as Hercules says, its not your console I think, as it works on one PC.
Try reinstalling the drivers, make sure its alone on the usb port (no sharing with other devices, need all powers), check if its VDJ related, or same distortion in any app using the Herc as soundcard.
A bit of elimination should get you closer to why..
Try switching usb port too, maybe the usb port is having issues

I think I have the same problem, I tried it on a desktop and a laptop and they both give static no matter what is plugged in, really weird. I email Hercules let me know if you come across something.

I have reinstalled all drivers. The problem is there even when VDJ are inaktive.
Whats the best way to clean out old drivers and relateted files?
I think its compability problems with the driver(soundcard) and the HP laptop.
I have also tried to use external power source with no succes.
Whats the symptoms when the power is to low? Anybody know?
Can a powered USB hub be the solution? Maybe better than a standalone AC adapter

have a look at this thread, I seemed to have a simlar problem.so out of curiosity, plug different speakers/headphones in the back of you Mk2 and let us know if you encounter the same issue.

Problem solved!!!
I connected a mini USB hub between laptop and MK2 and the distortion is there no more :)
First with external power to the hub then without and it still work fine
That must indicate on a conflict in the hardware???

Nope, only that your onboard USB port had to little power or had ground loop problems.
Glad it works now, and using powered usb hub is even recommened for the console :)

It wasnt ground problem cause the sound wasent static. Only there when music played.
It wasnt power issue cause i used the USB HUB without power and it worked fine with no distortion.
So a passive USB HUB was the solution to bypass the problem
So it must be a kind of USB conflict
