Topic: MASTER effect & controll - Page: 1

This part of topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information

One thing that I'm really missing in VDJ is the possibility to work on master output (both deck1 & deck2 at the same time)

this is very very needed for vst plugins to work right! you could then use an EQ, limiter or other good vst's to improve sound on master (both decks at the same time), and many many vst's are already made for 2 "decks".. and would therefor work perfect at "master effect slot"

Just an idea I would find usefull

yes and a virtual "side chain" would be helpful. Side chain meaning that the orginal signal would be un effected and the "wet" channel would have a volume, this would be great for reverb or flange. But I know the team is busy fixing karaoke, making a console mapper and developing mpg video playback, adding & fixing much needed short cuts, so this may be a ways away.

and on the micro ...

Just an idea ... and a dream

Effects pannel:
- deck A
- deck B
- Mic
- Master

and more efffets by row: 4 or 5 maybe ...

The pictures have to be smaller but the power of the soft would be very greater ...

Would the team make my (our) dream come true ?

I like the idea, however I'm not going to use the mic effect. While I prefer to connect my mic directly to my mixer.
The ability to use a compressor/limiter effect on the master output would be very good.

The possibility to use a compressor/limiter effect and/or EQ on the master output would be very good new features, I can only wait the future...

I've already wanted this feature for a long time... effects "drink" less CPU if used on a single channel than on two channels!

Count me in. When I am using Pioneer DJM-600, I always set effects to the master channel. Should be able to do that on VDJ as well.

assuming that the both sources will be merged internaly, yes
for external mixer use there would be no difference

naturaly it would be a large bonus to have a master effect ability, i belive this was touted as an advantage of the new effects layout, or atleast put forward as one

I've seen in new SDKs there's a master output option... but how to use it?

From the history page:
http://www.virtualdj.com/products/virtualdj/history.html

"# sound Plugins can now apply on: Song (as before), Mixer Line (like old scratch), or Master. (cf SDK)"

But i cant help you more at this point, i'd like to know that too, if current plugins can be used somehow (especially vst's) or new created plugins only.

but why cant you use it in the normal skin? i think the current effects layout is very couter intuitive, clunky and a large step backwards in terms of simplicity and useability, back when dev team were consulting about it some forum members put worfards some good ideas, all of which were ignored in favour of a system that is much worse after having using it for a bit now
