Hi
I'm just upgrading my mixer from a Numark 200 and have got it down to a Pioneer DJM 500/600 or an Allen & Heath Xone 32. they are all available for a similar sort of price on Ebay.
At the moment I favour the A & H because it's 10" so easier to carry and I think the sound quality will be better.
Has anybody any experience of these.
Andy

Sound quality is better with the Xone, that's true. Nevertheless, I still prefer DJM-600 to most club mixers out there, and I used a lot of them! DJM-600 has a perfect layout, with good size knobs, and awesome effects. DJM-800 is a newer and better model with sound quality arguably as good or better then the Xone, but if you can't afford it I would look at the DJM-400!

Just to let you know, I ordered the Allen & Heath today. I thought about the Pioneer DJM 400 but it only has phono outputs and I want balanced ones to go straight ot my speakers. Decided in the end that if I wanted effects I'd buy an effects box.
but thanks for your input. I'll report back on sound quality and other things just out of interest in a few days to help others who are interested.
Thanks again.

You can always make adapter for balanced cable.

you can make an adapter for the socket but the signal will still be unbalanced if it has ever been unbalanced (eg rca) in the signal path. while it is true that you can buy linedrivers to balance a signal and transfer if via a blanacable medeum (eg XLR) the process of doing so will negate any benefit in nearly all circumstances

Hi
Thanks again for this brilliant help. At the end of the day I was just dying to make a decision and so went for the one seemed to fit my bill best the Allen and Heath. And also it fits in my Coffin Case. Thanks to Ebay, if I find out I've made the wrong choice I can probably get most of my my money back more or less in six months or a year. I just love electronic gear, and djing. They go together so well.
I'll be playing out with this mixer tonight, my wife just texted me to let me know it had arrived.
I think the Pioneer DJM800 will be one I will be aiming for in a year or so. I can't justify spending that money yet.
