Topic: Can I have music library on more than one computer?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello, I'm pretty new here so sorry if this has already been covered. I searched but didnt find exactly what I needed.

I have been making playlists and using them on auto dj while I am at work. When I go home and login all the songs I downloaded are not there, only on my work computer. Do I need to buy another type of subscription so they will be synced to both computers? Once again I am new at this and sorry if its already been covered. Any help is appreciated!!!

I am sorry I am new. Yes I posted the same question but got no response so I figured it was in the wrong place so I posted it here.

So if I right click and save to cache those are the files you are saying I can copy to my other computer? There is no way to have the music already on the other computer when I sign in?

Thank you for your response.

No, just like downloading anything else - software for example.

If you download VDJ on one computer, it doesn't automatically download itself on another computer.

I think you're looking for a file synchronization software.

I've never done it with playlists as I don't ever use them but all my music files, folders etc are saved to an external drive by default so when I'm working on another computer I simply plug the drive in there of off I go... I can't see any reason why this wouldn't work for playlists

The file paths in playlists can be relative or absolute. Relative can look like "../Library/Gorillaz/Demon Days/Feel Good Inc.mp3" whereas absolute can look like "D:/Music/Library/Gorillaz/Demon Days/Feel Good Inc.mp3". VirtualDJ can understand both, but this format can break if the drive letter changes between computers, e.g. D: becomes E:.
VDJ always stores absolute file paths which can break, absolute file paths also have the advantage that it's easier to find the files if you move them, because it contains all parent folder information.
Maybe this is why playlists aren't behaving for you?
