Topic: VST's on Mac's?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am looking for a definitive answer on whether VSTs work on the Mac? I have tried to copy over some different VSTs without success.

Any thoughts?

Holy Crap this has been painful. But here's what I've done to get things working in Virtual DJ 8.2 for the Mac

1) MacintoshHD -> Users -> YOUR USER NAME -> Documents -> VirtualDJ -> Plugins64 -> SoundEffect is the current directory (For me)
2) Copy the VST or AU to this directory
3) rename the extension from VST or Component to bundle (This fixes the issue with VSTs lookling like folders under the effects list)

e.g. - loop out.component to loop out.bundle

4) Restart VDJ if you have it open.
5) You should see it the effects list.
6) Hit the plus sign under the effects to see the effects window to make modifications.

Note - Not every plugin worked - Maschine 2 for example. Some plugins like RMX-1000 work until you hit OVERDUB and then it crashes. So be careful.

That's it! I The effects that are in VDJ are okay but this certainly opens the door to some creative opportunities. I'm trying to find some of my favor
