Topic: In desperate need of the most simple basic walkthrough of how to broadcast!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I am completely, utterly and hopelessly lost on how this broadcasting thing works. It really needs to be much easier. Anyway, can someone walk me through this like i'm a complete imbecile (since apparently, I am) I am using VDJ 8 on an HP Elitebook with Windows 7. I have NO CLUE where to even start. I am no novice to computers. But I clearly have no idea how to open port 8000. Do I have to open some sort of account with Shoutcast or Icecast or whomever? I've even tried to do PC to PC direct and Episodes Podcast but it says I have to be logged in to do that (with a hyperlink that wont work. It doesn't allow me to click on it.) Yes I have an Infinity Pro License. If anyone can walk me through it, or point to an answer somewhere else that could cover the most basic things, I'd be enormously grateful. Please assume nothing. I see some of these answers that I've studied for hours on end until I am bleary-eyed and sleep deprived and yet they gloss over things they assume we (or maybe just imbecile me) must already know. I do not. I know have memberships and profiles for these different damned radio sites that are equally as unhelpful in providing the information necessary to link up from THEIR side of things! Can we all just meet in the middle and help people out? PLEASE!?!

the latest builds of VirtualDJ have the ability to automatically open port 8000 using UPNP, so make sure your router has this feature enabled.
