Topic: Moving files from external to internal hard drive

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi all,

I've been doing gigs with all my music on an external drive, but now I have a new, bigger drive in my MacBook and would like to move the files to the internal drive. Obviously I could just copy the files, but this ends up breaking all my virtual folders, which I've spent a CRAZY amount of time creating.

How can I move these files while also updating the virtual folders with the files' new location?

Thanks!

Unfortunately there's no way to move the files and keep your Virtual Folders updated automatically.

The easiest way to do what you want is to copy all files on the same location on internal disc and then edit the Virtual Folder files with a text editor.

So, you copy the files from within VirtualDj (so that the database keeps updated and you don't loose your hotcues e.t.c.) to the internal drive and then you edit the Virtual Folder with a text editor by doing a mass search and replace.
E.G.:
Search for: F:\Music\
Replace with: C:\Music from Ext\
