I know that virtual DJ works with the MacBook air and the MacBook Pro, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the new MacBook? Is this compatible as well?

Yes, it works just fine, however none of the controllers use the new USB-C connector. On my test device, I bought one of these:

And then plugged a regular USB 3.0 hub into that which then gave me 4 more 'standard' USB ports. Plugged a controller in, and my external HDD, and it works perfectly.
It's a mess due to the amount of cables, etc., but it's possible and it does indeed work.
