No matter what I do to the file names I cannot get them to play in order. When I call the file name eg: a.jpg, b.jpg c.jpg, etc it always skips to like i.jpg after b.jpg. I need to get them in order. I tried using numbers and the same thing happens. They are not on shuffle. It is not highlighted. Any ideas? I need them in order for a wedding Saturday... I also tried vdj7 and the same thing. Seems like a very simple thing to do! I don't get it

Curios how many did you do in that order? I get to #2 and it goes to 9 and then continues good for a bit and then goes back to 3 and goes for a bit then jumps to a higher number and counts up good for a bit then goes to a lower number then works a bit then jumps again higher and continues correctly a bit. Whether I use numbers or letters. Tried on my Ailenware and my Toshiba. VDJ7 or 8 same thing... Confused

Explain this please... I would call it a bug. When I was given the pictures on a usb stick that what I plugged into my laptops. The pics are still in the same order but VDJ 7-8 mixes them up. When I transfer the folder to my laptop they work fine in proper order. Doesn't make sense to me... Anyone with a good explanation?

The USB drive is probably formatted as FAT, the internal drive possibly NTFS.
In FAT, files are just added to the file table in the order they are written on the disk, but I think NTFS always uses a file table sorted by file name.
Currently virtualdj does not sort the images by itself, so they are just shown in the order the operating system supplies them.

Thank you for this thread. I almost pulled my hair out when I realized I was going to have to rename 200 files for the slide show to play in order until I found this free app. https://mrrsoftware.com/namechanger/ Just load the pictures to the app, select sequence from the pop down menu, write the file extension (i.e. .jpg), select the number of 0's then click rename and your done.
