Topic: Getting the two soundcards to work Pioneer CDJ 850??

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Digital Wiz here

have a macbook pro
2 Pioneer CDJ850 -
just watched DJRudes video on youtube realized the cdjs carry soundcards..
connected everything like he said
however a small problem... virtualdj seems to read be reading the same sound card.. and not the two like the cdj400s

not seeing any difference or number in the different options for 2 soundcard (Pioneer 850) shown for both no difference so i assume it is the same.. sound comes only from on channel too... any ideas how i can get both soundcards to be picked up?

Not all CDJs have the same sound setup. Try this

Inputs: None
Outputs: External Mixer (Deck 1 Chan 1&2 / Deck 2 Chan 3&4)
Sound card: 4out -> Pioneer

am not using windows am using a macbook pro

so no options to asio i think
any other suggestion

have upgraded to firmware 1.06 already

seems also that the two deck control the same track too

I have edited my initial post. Didnt notice you have a mac , sorry.

If both CDJs control the same deck..Goto Config-->Mappers choose the CDJ from the drop down list and next to that Mappers option-->Deck assignment. You should be able to see 2 of them. Assign each one to a separate deck e.g. the first one to deck 1 ..and the 2nd one to deck 2

ok now i have the players working for each decks following your instructions
however when i select 4 out card i am not getting any sound at all (no errors show)

so far it seems that it may just be something else to be done...
continuing to see if you can come up with it

really appreciate the quick response and help so far.. thanks mon

can anyone offer some suggestions.... i think it is only reading one of the soundcards at all
not two

i think that is where the problem lies

HELP PLEASE

On the Mac. YOu need to aggregate your Pioneer. Go to your MIDI settings. The 2 Pioneers should be showing. Click the + sign and select both Pios

Once you have done that, on VDJ select 2 sound cards. On the drop down, select one to be the Aggregate and the other the Pioneer. You may need to switch the selection if the channel are reversed. Hope that helps.

OK LET ME TRY

did the aggregate
but no dice........ same one channel am hearing both decks from

notice now that the left pioneer does not respond at all in terms of control of software
I honestly think that this is where my problems lie

ISSUE SOLVED - MAC BOOK PRO OSX Snow Leopard

Getting Two Pioneer CDJ850 to work using their sound cards

Did the aggregate again but differently

This time i selected only one of the Pioneer 850 from the aggregate list in AUDIO MIDI SETUP
went back into Virtual Dj selected 2 soundcard + (from sound setup)

Pioneer 850 - option 1 (selected)
Aggregate - option 2 (selected)

It worked

guess depending on which you selected in the aggregate you would simply switch around the channels etc.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction... so quickly... thanks much

I am having the same problem with my new cdj 900's. can someone walk me through this process in a little more detail starting with the Audio Midi Setup? I am kind of in a crunch with a Gig coming up. Thanks in advance. Mario
