Topic: mkv files plays fine in Windows Media Player..but not in VDJ with Windows MediaPlayer Video Decoder

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

I have search the forums for some solutions on this, but haven't found anything on it. Can you somebody help me please..

I got my .mkv files to play fine in Windows Media Player with the latest ffdshow codec and Matroska Splitter perfectly, but I can't get Virtual DJ to play the same file using Windows MediaPlayer Video Decoder in the codec section under the config. Every time I drag the .mkv file over to Virtual DJ..it doesn't scan. All it does is give me the word "error" near the wave length where the scan wave length shows.

Yes, Virtual DJ plays the .mkv file without a problem if I select the default Video Decoder that came with Virtual DJ. But I would like to use Windows MediaPlayer Video Decoder instead of the default Video Decoder, because I want to use ffdshow codec and Matroska Splitter.

Can anybody help me with this??

My file that I want to play:
format = .mkv
video = H264
audio1 = aac english
audio2 = aac spanish

My laptop:
Newly installed Win7 32bit 2gig ram Nvidia Geforce Go 7700
Codec: ffdshow latest version
Splitter: Matroska Splitter 1.9.3

I'm having this exact same problem. bought CoreAVC codec and it works wonders in WMP/MPC etc to reduce CPU usage on decoding, but Virtual DJ will not use the external codec, even if I choose the windows media player one, i get the same error that OP gets.

The haali media splitter icon appears briefly in the bottom right corner of the taskbar while the video is attempting to load. Same thing applies for .mp4 files.

If I used the internal VDJ video decoder, the CPU usage is too high, therefore has choppy playback. I've searched forums and found various threads about it, but with no fixes. Only this unanswered thread from over a year ago.

I have music that plays fine in wm but will only play 30seconds on VDJ
Why?
can some one help me

i have a membership but still cant play mp4-hd videos

Your best bet would be to search for the K-Lite Codec pack on google and install it. It will let you play almost any audio/video formats using almost any software. I was having the same issue where certain video formats would play in WMP and not VDJ and all was good after i installed the K-Lite pack.
