you cant play on both unless you have an external soundcard. you can only use one or the other. there is only one sound output on your laptop so as soon as you plug something into it such as external speakers, then your sound will only come out of there. though to be quite fair i dont see the reason you want to use the laptop speakers "and" external speakers at the same time.

actually thats a bit of a wierd idea..

you can run a 3.5mm jack to 2 phono cable into the aux sockets in any hifi or surround sound system and hear the preverbial fat bass..

if you are trying to monitor with the laptop speakers the your going to need an external soundcard so you can setup to make the monitoring audio come from the laptop speakers. though not 100% sure it works that way.

i have wrote a guide to headphone setup on here that you should find within the first 10 pages of the general discussion forum. this should give you a few ideas.

also can you tell me why you want to play music out of both the laptop speakers and the externals at the same time??

hope some of this helps.

well i have a logitech ls21 sorround speakers in my room and my laptop. I wanted to buy more speakers to make it little louder but got the idea to use the laptop skeapers.

ah i see, unfortunatly ther is no way to do so. as soon as the jack plug is inserted into the laptop it transferes the sound to play only on the externals. i wuppose it could be possible if you had a bluetooth sound system but thats just rediculas and very much pointless.

the best suggestion i can give you is to use a 3.5mm jack to 2 phono cable. plug it into your hifi or surround sound system. if however you dont happen to have one then im affraid your a little stuck. you could always buy a used one from ebay or even a charuty shop as long as it has an aux input then your good to go. by aux inputs i mean the red/white sockets. just incase you diddnt know, which i expect you did already :D
