Topic: VDJ "Basic" Edition? When will it be available?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I just noticed that Atomix now has a "BASIC" version of VDJ..

When will it be available?

thanx!

When it is ready for release ... no different that when we are working on an upgrade. We do not advertise release dates.

All softwares are doing this now, so many different versions

I understand that you don't advertise release dates. What we would like to be informed about is what "Coming Soon" means. It can be interperrated into varying amounts of time. Are we talking days? Weeks? Months? Years?

That is all we want to know.

This edition I feel is rather important as it bridges a big void between the Pro Edition and the Home Edition.

Thanks.

The term soon.. is soon... so therefor weeks ;) not months or years ;)

going by the software comparison, in this case it kinda makes sense..

the "home" version is basically 5.x restricted.. no netsearch, no skins, no plugins, no controller, no two soundcards, etc etc..
The "basic" gives you netsearch, (ver 6.x) but is still restricted like "home"..

Netsearch would be a pretty usefull feature for a home user just wanting to play around.. and for them it is easily worth the extra $50..

OK..then.. ;-)

so a new user really really really wants to try out VDJ NOW.. (but wants the netsearch feature and better skin of "basic")....
If they purchased "home" today, can they upgrade to "basic" later?
Can the $50 they paid for "home" be used towards the purchase of basic?

thanx.

So download the Trial to try VDJ NOW. As outlined in the product page, it is a reduced set of functionality from the PRO. And they wouldn't have spent any money to try it.

And when the Basic is available they can purchase that version if they only want the features offered in VirtualDJ Basic. Or, hopefully; they like all the features of the PRO trial and purchase the Pro version.

Look ... the product description placement is a teaser 'Yes' ... and if people desire that version then they need to wait a bit until we are ready to make it available for purchase.

I believe this is a good move for Atomix, a bit on the late side IMO, but still a good move nevertheless!!!

For those interested, I have just bought VDJ Home Edition and it is version 5, not a watered down version of the watered down version of version 6. Hopefully, as with the past versions, when Basic comes out I can just pay for the upgrade and all will be happy.

Great News for all interested in VDJ Basic is available Now!
Its $99 :)

Finally a "basic" version! I have been having this argument with someone on the PreSonus forums about his $99 Traktor Duo and why it's only $99 compared to VDJ's $299. He is comparing apples to oranges.

VDJ Basic is the answer to Duo... Cool!!

This statement in his post which seems to be his key point...

I've been using Virtual DJ 5, but when run in ASIO soundcard mode, it only allows the two "decks" to be directed to channels 1/2 or 3/4

...isn't even true ;)

On the PreSonus forums this is what he is saying, it's about ASIO mapping, not MIDI...

DJ RuDe,
Actually, the ASIO mapping and MIDI mapping are completely different. The ASIO assigns inputs & outputs. The MIDI mapping assigns MIDI controls to all the adjustable "human interface" factors such as deck loading, play/pause, EQ, filters, etc. The version of VDJ that I have already does MIDI mapping just fine, but that's not what I need. I would hope VDJ does actually have better ASIO mapping now, and the upcoming lower-cost version will be a welcome product...though just a little too late for my purchase. VDJ definitely does some things better than Traktor.

I'm not familiar with "ASIO mapping"

How limited is the Basic version on the netsearch? I have the home version, do I get a upgrade discount to purchase the Basic edition?
