I am running a 64 bit Vista machine with 4 Gigs of Ram and a 1 Gig dedicated Video Card.
Question is:
Even though Virtual DJ is compatable with 64bit Vista, does it recognize addtional RAM that exceeds 3 Gigs??
I keep getting this stuttering effect that looks like the "thrashing" in computer science tech. terms. It seems to only happen as I approach 75% RAM usage. 75% of my RAM would be 3 Gigs, the max that 32bit windows will recognize.
Seems like Virtual DJ is acting as if it has reached the limit of available memory even though another gig of RAM is still available.
If this is what is happening then when will we see an update to allow virtual DJ to take advantage of additional RAM via 64 bit machines?
Thanks,
DJ James

Shouldn't be an issue. Virtual DJ is a 32 bit application and therefore runs in the WoW64 emulation layer - therefore it can be allocated up to 2GB or 4GB of memory depending if IMAGE_FILE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE is set or not. Where the memory lies on the system is irrelevant as it's all translated by WoW64.
I don't know whether that flag is set or not, but you would have to load over 3 hours of audio into Virtual DJ to hit 2GB.
It sounds like your system is very heavy. I'm currently at only 32% usage on my untweaked main system with Firefox, Outlook, WL Messenger and Media Player Classic open. What happens if you drag the performance slider in Virtual DJ all the way to the left? Your problem may even be to do with Windows paging certain memory locations.

I wish I knew how to check for that flag. I am running mp4 music video's in 1080p HD along with plugins and a really long clip bank commercial that runs when an mp3 is being played. I will do some research into settings for WoW64 and see if I can figure this out. Thanks for the input.

see in task manager how many processes you are running ..... i would recommend get the number below say, 50 on the high end ....
the lowest of the low is safe mode .....most people don't perform while in safe mode, but you can ....
at any rate try to be at approx 22 to 50 and you should be good.....
you may have something running in background using a lot of cpu ......
could be malware ...... try a scan with housecall at trendmicro website.....

I am sure that all the RAM use is because I am using Virtual DJ at it's limits. My laptop is not at it's limits but I don't think the developers had 1080p upscaling in mind when they wrote this version. Everyone keeps telling me to reduce the quality settings but i don't want go back down to s-video quality. That is why I bought my system and this software. It looks super clear and ultrasharp at these settings.
