Hi. I have a problem with my dj i/o and VDJ. At random points I get a digital distortion which comes for about 10-15 secs then disappears again. Ive tried every thing, all the latency advice that people have given me on this forum. Done the latency checker thing. I have even had the laptop re-formatted and put back to 'new' but I still get this problem. I cant dj with it. Can anyone help? My laptop is a toshiba satellite l300. It has 3gb ram 160 gb hard drive and a AMD turion dual core processor. If there is no solution, could anyone recommend another soundcard to try? It doesnt do distort with my cheap £5 usb sound card, but this one has no ability to monitor in head phones and only has a 3.5mm jack output. Cheers.

Don't know 100% but i think your versions are much to old for Vista. Better download the newest version from the update page and try 6.0.1.
I hope you use a legal license. In my ears it sounds like a part of the crack protection of the software. Better to register your version and download the update.

A friend of mine has VDJ 5 and has no problems with his! Is there any other sound cards you could recommend. Ill try the update but to be honest I think it'll still be there! Another friend told me you could change the system settings on the laptop, so background progs eg sound cards could be changed, so they are given priority!

A bit suspect to me. Should work. Can you post you soundcard settings ? Make some screenshoots and upload them to an image hoster.

Change Latency to 'Auto' because in the moment you force the card to this settings. When there is a load problem your card can not switch to an other latency so it drops the sound.
Have you ever used an 'Inofficial version' of VDJ ? Because the distortion you described sounds like the crack protection of VDJ. The protection plays in random intervalls distortion sound to your speakers. This can, in the worst case, damage your loudspeaker system.

Never had a unofficial version of VDJ to my knowledge. Ill try the auto thing though!

Also this doesnt happen when using a different soundcard!

Have registered my serial number now and downloaded latest cue. You may be right with the VDJ as I bought an OEM version I think! Thought it was legit though!

Do you have the latest Numark DJIO drivers installed?
You can download them from: http://www.numark.com/djio

I have run the DPC Latency checker again and I get a red, some times yellow bar approx every 15 secs.(although not 100% consistent) I have disabled antvirus, firewalls, defender any auto update I can find. Also the modem, ethernet and network adapters, and DVD drive as well as camera and wifi, but still get this red bar, even with nothing running at all except DPC. Is this likely to be a cause. Cant find whats causing the red bars!

I have downloaded numark 2.8.4 legacy driver and used that instead of the 2.8.9 version. So far no distortion. Would this driver change make any difference as am unsure? because the distortion is random. (I did a 75 min mix the other day with no distortion using the 2.8.9 driver!)

Nobody can say the trouble is gone!
But at the beginning, you wrote about the disortion appears every 10-15 sec.
Now you mix without any problems 75min?!
Normaly a new driver makes things better :-)
So spin again some sets and have a look.

It doesnt appear every 10-15 secs, it lasts for about 10-15 secs. It appears randomly, any time! Still running a test, been about 1h 30 mins and no distortion. Fingers crossed! ;)

Still have the problem! worked for a whole day, then the morning before the gig, it started playing up again! Had to use my internal sound card as couldnt risk using the DJ I/O. Im thinking the sound card must be broken? Cant see anything left to try!
