Topic: Numark Omni Control - making native for VDJ + New Midi Map + 3 Skins

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Ive been using Traktor 3 with the omni pro which is kind of lame. I am used to using Traktor Pro with timecodes and turntables but a friend downloaded a trial version of VDJ and after a bit of "mouse mixing" I am slowly getting hooked. I picked up the Numark Omni Control (NOC) to use with the program but alas no native support!

I took the time to use the midi learn function and mapped out the controller to my liking for vdj (I can send the admin's the xml file with some screenshot's of how I laid out the controller if they feel the need to have another midi mapper available)

Ive been digging through the posts on here and see that native support will be available on the "next version" which is fine i'll try out the trial and if it works to my liking will absolutely invest into the pro version.

Is there anything I can do on my own to make the controller "native" to VDJ?

Also I have some (3) skins I made for VDJ err 1 skin with 3 resolutions. 1280x1024 1280x800 1024x768

It's a remix of DJ Format's mixlab 3 skin (big up on a rad skin!) I redid the graphics, and took out all the panels and added several different views of the tracks as they play.

It was a nice learning experience for my first time with xml and 1,900+ lines of code and 3 days later it works fantastic! whew!

I can send some screenshots to admin's if they're interested in another skin. Thanks again to FORMAT for the excellent work on the basis for my skin.

Cheers,
Adam

Full native support will be offered to all registered users in the next update.

when is the next update gonna be available?

Yes I am aware that full native support will be available in the next release.... and when will that be?

I asked what I could do to make my Omni Control native NOW.

I'm not going to spend 300.00 on a program that "kinda" works with my controller, when I already have Traktor 3 le (with support) and Traktor Pro that will have support shortly... and I upgraded for like 120.00 to pro from LE

Like I said before I like VDJ a lot, but am not going to drop big bucks on it until I know it works to my liking with my controller. Traktor works OK but, I like some of the features in VDJ better. So, when the update trial version comes out I'll try it. Until then what can I do to just even get the LEDs to light up on the omni?

I read something about a Plugin? How would I go about coding my own .dll plugin? I learned XML in 2 days so I'm a quick learn for most code related applications. Besides my mate is a programmer for alticor, but it's hard to tie him down to code after mucking with it coding at work all day.

My humble apologizes O corporate staff. I will try my best not to ever request anything ever again on this website. :( It would be very unfortunate if I would have to suffer the consequence of "further actions".

On another note, hey adamfear did you try to mimic the numark total control layout with the mapper you created for the omni? Just wondering cause I compared your mappers photo .jpg to the total control layout and they look very similar.

hey i just bought this numark omni and i need this mapper as well, wodering if someone could lend me a helping hand??

Its included in the V6 demo and Pro.

Hi fellow DJ's and VDJ admin,

I have been using a Hercules RMX for a bit now along with a n RMX skin and have decided to also try a Numark Omni. I am a registered VDJ Pro user and have configured the Omni and selected the Omni mapper in VDJ 6. All is well but using skins such as the VDJ Pro standard skins has some short comings in relation to the graphics vs the mapping so I was wondering if ANYBODY has yet developed and made available a skin for the Omni (preferrably with video options as well).

PS: I got a copy of Tracktor LE with the Omni but I am sticking with VDJ as this is my preferred product. However I would like to put up on my profile the fact that I also have an Omni controller. Is there anyway this can be done as the Tracktor serial number does not accept.

Unfortunately it's not possible to get an OmniControl icon - This is only possible for controllers that include a bundled version of VirtualDJ (Or Numark Cue), such as Hercules DJ Consoles, older versions of the Numark Total Control, etc. OmniControl has never included a bundled version of our software, so cannot be registered and there is no icon for it.

Skins are created by talented users of VirtualDJ and can be downloaded from http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/skins.html - Nobody has made an OmniControl skin yet - You could ask in the skins forum http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/13/Virtual_DJ_Skins.html or if you have graphics editing/XML skills, you could create one yourself.

NOTE: You do not need the on-screen skin to match the controller. The OmniControl will function just fine with any skin of your choice. Simply look at the controller itself to see what butons are activated, etc. This is the whole advantage of having an external controller - You can use a simpler skin with more browser space, allowing you to see more songs at once.
