Last weekend I played at a club and I used Virtual DJ with timecoded vinyl. At random times the song would loose sync with the Timecode. The software would show that the timecode was ON and is in sync with the vinyl, but for some reason loose sync with the song. Either when I would stop the record, the song would continue to play, or when I go to drop in a song, the the Virtual DJ program would show that the timecode was in sync with the Record, but the song wouldn't play!!! This was VERY frustrating being this happened 6 times though out my 5 hour set!!! I had to switch over to my old records or plug in my iPhone for a song, while I rebooted the Virtual DJ software to fix the problem each time!!!!
I really like the ease of use of the Virtual DJ software, but this is a serious problem for me!! Is this a common problem in the software? Am I pressing some button and I am unaware of it??
Here is a list of hardware I am using:
-Final Scratch Open
-Final Scratch timecoded Vinyl (v.2)
-IBM Thinkpad Laptop with Pentium4
512mb of ram
- I am using 2 Technic 1200 MKII and an old American DJ 3 channel mixer of mine (I don't think my set up is relevant though)
Someone please Help because I'm playing another club this Friday!!!!!
Thanks for any help,
Chris

buy the program and stop using the trial or cracked version and you shouldn't have this issue. the tiral versions stop responding to tc after a bit.

also your gig machine is a paper weight. 512 gigs of ram. my video card alone has that. pentium 4? dude thats from like 5 years ago. if you plan on running a program such as cue or vdj you need to step up you laptop. also you say your running final scratch. i think your on the wrong forums?

Thanks for all the help! I will be honest and say that I had a friend obtained a cracked copy for me to try out. I liked the program and I was going to buy the software, except for the problem I was having was holding me back. Since I was told this is a problem with the trail or "cracked" version, I have now purchased the software, hopefully I won't run int the same problem again.
As far as my equipment. I am obviously on the budget side. Due to this economic low, my main job has trickled to a halt and I am barely working. This is why I am getting back into being a DJ as a job again and not just a hobby. Being a DJ brings in some bill money while having fun at the same time. When I make some more cash, I will look into getting better equipment, but for now, I have to work with what I got.
Thanks again for the Help.. Crossing all fingers my problems are solved!

It's not compatible with VirtualDJ

Ummm... I just bought the Virtual DJ pro 5.2.1. and now I'm told its not compatible?
The Final Scratch Open (or Scratch amp2) is an ASIO card, why wouldn't it work?
The Stanton Home Page for the Final Scratch even says it's compatible:
http://www.stantondj.com/v2/fs/prod_fsopen.asp
It's in the last sentence under the paragraph titled "OPEN Options: The World Class Stanton ScratchAmp"

BTW I am still having the same problem even after I have bought the full Virtual DJ Pro v5.2.1.
I played for a good 2 hours and had no problems. All of a sudden I stopped the turntable, and the song kept going? When I would Load up a new track and start the turntable, the software shows the record in sync with the TC, but the song doesn't react. I'm not sure but it seems to happen when I double click the song to load it (instead of dragging the song). I'm not sure if that triggered the problem. I will mess with it some more and try it without double clicking the song to load it and see if that Is my problem.
If someone can please help me, I have a gig in less than 27hours.

dj-in-Norway,
I'm not sure if I buy the Virtual DJ timecode vinyl, if that will solve my problem. Everything seems to work for a good amount of time and then it just stops working?? At least to me, it doesn't seem to be the timecoded vinyl that is triggering the problem.

ok, so.. first of all, so we are on the same page, the timecode you are using is not supported. And possibly wont work at all.
But since you have it going somewhat, let me ask you a few things
When playing normally (timecode), does it say 100% timecode quality in VDJ timecode settings, advanced view.
It MUST...
If it does not, you need to tweak. Press auto config first, and see if VDJ has luck detecting the settings needed for the (unsupported) timecode signal from Final Scratch.
If not, adjust silencer and gain manually, until you get 100%
You need two perfect circles, or two perfect waves (depending on view setting) at advanced view.
You can also play around with the engine settings.
Try both engine 4, and engine 5, as well as noisemap. See what works best. I'm not sure what timecode signal FS has.
And also, try without ClearSound on, if you are having issues.
And its also very important to set AUTO at latency in VDJ performance tab.

You are awesome! Thank you for your detailed help!! Yeah it looks like its the Timecoded vinyl I am using. I messed around with the TC quality and the highest I could get it is to 3%!!! It's weird because it still reads the Mp3 tracks and works for quiet a while with very little sound distortion, but it looks like that is my problem. I ordered the Virtual DJ timecode Vinyl last night. Unfortunately I am playing at a club tonight, so I am going to have to play with what I got and just deal with the problem of the lose of TC sync every once and a while.
Once again thank You for your help!!!!
When I receive the VDJ vinyl, I will post an update to my problem.

Just glad to help, and hopefully your new VDJ timecodes will sort it all ;)

You could always run to Guitar Center if you have one near by and buy the Virtual Vinyl replacements if they have them in stock.

As far as I know, FS is a timecode and not a noisemap
