I am usually good at finding answers in the forums etc, but cannot find an answer to this one anywhere. Is it possible to save cue points and loops for present and future uses. Don't want to have to create one everytime I load certain songs. Any help would be appreciated, or maybe point me in the right direction.
I know how to create a loop before or during play, but it it possible to reloop the same points at anytime while the song is playing? I hope I explained my dilema clearly. Using the 9k.
Thanks in advance.

Great question. I'm in anticipation of what the feedback will be.
I'm sure someone will touch on VDJ's Sampling feature as an option for what you're addressing in the discussion. I know for myself I am not ready to dive into the Sampling option.
Nonetheless, I hope you get what you're looking for.

Sampling would not help as I have way more than 12 tunes for which I would like to save the cue points and loops. Truely hope that it can be done.

You have the ability to save up to 99 cue points! Have a look at the user manual starting on page 28 in regards to cue points http://www.virtualdj.com/images/pdf/VirtualDJ%207%20-%20User%20Guide.pdf. The search function in this PDF will also give you a lot of answers if you can't find it in the forum.
As for loops, there is no way to save your previous loops. But you could always set a cue point, engage the smart loop feature, and engage a 4 beat loop (or however many beats you prefer) from that point.
The sampler is also another option and is a fantastic feature that other softwares are now starting to adapt. You can record your loops in the sampler, loop it and beat match it inside the sampler itself.
Hope that's what you were looking for.

Thanks for your response AC. The manual and the forums are what I always go to in order to resolve issues. And believe me, I have read that gone to that manual and that section many times. Still cannot figure out how to save cue points. Maybe i need to be clearer.
What I would like to do is save cue points while i am practising at home. When I am at a gig, I would like to be able to access those same cue points that I set at home. Is that possible, or maybe I am missing something? Bare with me as I am still new to this.
Thanks.

The way I do it is to map a button to
holding 1000ms ? delete_cue 4 : loop ? loop_out : deck # hot_cue 4 & deck # loop 4
this has multiple functions with the same button, for one press it will set or recall hot cue 4 and loop 4, the next press will disengage the loop if looping, and if you hold the button down for one second you will delete cue 4, you can have a couple of variations depending on your use and available buttons. you could specify a deck # with "deck 1" or the active deck with "deck default", and you don't need to specify how many times to loop, although from my trials if you don't you cant see on the skin how many times it will loop so it's just easier that way, and once the loop has started you can change the amount with a knob or a couple of buttons. I also recommend using cue 4 as some skin makers include this in their skins (i use GROM), so you can have a visual cue.

Are you not using the same computer at home that you use at a gig?
the cue points should be automatically be saves for the song in the VDJ database on the computer. But if you move the songs to an other computer the cue points want come over with the mp3. the cue points are not saved in the mp3 but in the database. So you will need to set the cue's on the computer you are using for gigs.
I also would like loops to be save in some way for easy recalls.

VDJ is so close, check it out for yourself. Ok we now have the option to save what's playing on the decks, now if you have a loop running and hit "save_deck_set" it'll store the loop you had set. Try with a track and youll see. So load a track next set a loop and hit "save_deck_set,. Now after youve done that close VDJ. Now open up VDJ and hit "load_deck_set", when it loads you should see that same loop is ready to go! So you see VDJ can remember the loops, so I guess its not really a question of if VDJ can do it but when will they make it soso you can store this info in every track if you want..............
Now I might be way off base here but I doubt it, unless I'm told other wise

I save my loops by recording them & saving them in a loop file.

Don't think thats what he means Ace, I'm pretty sure he's talking about saving loop points like in Serato.
I could be wrong

Yes, I will be using the same laptop when I do a gig. Was very much unaware that the cue points were saved automatically as the cue point I last use do not show when I load the same tune again. Will pay closer attention though.
Thanks for your input as well Huey as storing as many loops as I want is what I was looking for so I can recall whenever I wish. Guess I was a bit spoiled when I used the DN2500 and stored all the loops and cue points I wanted:):):) As far as what you can or cannot do with Serato, I don't have a clue. But i will ask my nephew as he uses it.
Thanks for all your responses guys, this newbie sure appreciated it. My first software use for djing and i am loving it. Great forum!!!! Also like the fact that no question is considered silly/stupid and they are all answered with great respect for the person asking the question. Hope this continues.

Saving all your preset track information with a track Info file itself will be the ultimate handy tool to have for many reasons....

VirtualDJ supports upto 99 cue points.
When you purchase the software, you will be able to download custom skins with more than 3 hotcue buttons: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/skins.html
Or you could map keyboard shortcuts to hot_cue 4, hot_cue 5, etc.

Yup pretty sure I said the same thing and was shoot down from every angle possible. The other software does it (Traktor,Serato ) . It would be a life saver compared to how we have to save everything. One small misprint and you'll loose everything in the database now.......

hey guys... I got a problem.
for starting a track I am using a saved loop. and then I hit the next cue point but it was also looping . but that was a hot cue point that should not be looped. any idea to solve this?
