Each ClipBank Is constructed in groups of three, because all three components work together, each delivering a different task to make it all work, ClipBank.dll, bmp and ini make up one complete ClipBank....

Hey Rick, glad it's working, one thing i don't understand is why any one needs to make a new folder for the new .dll's etc, just place the new stuff back in the same location as the original files.
Maybes that's why some of the guys are having problems.

Hey guys, I just figured it out myself. I am a little slow, well a lot slow. I have all those files now, and I deleted that new clipbank file.

Joey, not to be impolite but that is a dumb question you have just asked, I've used clipbank since the day it was released and yes I always make sure I know exactly what I'm talking about before I make a reply in the forums.
Follow the steps I have supplied earlier in the thread above your later instructions which and don't use short cuts, just use the mouse until you see that it works.
Then apply your short cuts and see if that then works, if it doesn't you know where the problem lies.

Okay tayla, You must be the only one here that's had sucess with this, we all would like to get this solved, so it's not a "dumb" question, It's a Smart Question, because I don't know what you know or what you did or don't do, so to me, it is a smart question on my part in solving the un-known in this case "have to tested this"...? the intent was simply for an answer of "yes" I did or "No" I didn't.....period.
The issue here is the "ClipBank_Randomizer" plugin and the shortcuts do not work when you rename the ClipBank to something else.. it Only works with "ClipBank.dll"...
I will try what you suggested and see....

@tayla have you tested and tried this yourself? before you recommend,
that was the reason I replied as I did,
as for the only one having success at using it this way AMAHM has his clipbanks running ok as well.
Anyways, back to trying to get this working for you and anyone else...
remember if you want the \"randomizer\" to work with your newly named clipbanks you must also follow my instructions and copy and exactly rename a new \"randomizer\" for each new clipbank.
try it only with the mouse first and delete any short cuts before doing so, when you are happy that it works add short cuts and see if it still works with those.
as you can see in the image (just) clipbank.2 and clipbank.2_random are working fine, but if i tried to use the other clipbank2 without the fullstop in it it would not work with either of the other clipbank_random effects
hope that helps

Okay tayla, I've got it to work properly, but what needs to be done is for example using ClipBank Hip Hop.dll
1. Go into effects folder and right click on ClipBank_Random.dll, move the mouse a little to the right while holding, let the right clicker go and "copy here".
2. Highlight the new "Copy of ClipBank_Random.dll" rename it to ClipBank Hip Hop_Random.dll.
3. Activate ClipBank Hip Hop.
4. Activate Clipbank Hip Hop_Random and that's it, This will work...
I believe the shortcut didn't work because using this example, the ClipBank Hip Hop_Random.dll had to be created first in the videoeffect folder before the shortcut would work, I don't remember seeing that critical detail till now in any of the post I've read.....so thanks for that..
Thanks,
Joey....

For those of you that can't be bothered to go through the thread and are still having problems, here's what I do to get multiple named clipbanks to work with the "randomizer".... make sure VDJ is closed.
1/ go to your documents > VDJ > plugins > video effects and highlight the original clipbank.dll - pdf and bmp file you will also need to highlight the original clipbank_random as well.

2/ copy and paste these to your desk top or anywhere that is convenient for you...

3/ rename each one eaxactly the same name of your choosing, I just selected the number 4 for ease of use for this tutorial,

4/ copy and paste those newly named four files back into the original folder...
use the files on your desk top if you need more clipbanks just simply rename them again and follow the above proceedure

5/ open up VDJ > video effects and go to your new clipbank file highlight and activate, load your new clips and deactivate...

6/ now firstly, highlight your new clipbank_random and activate, then highlight your new corresponding clipbank and activate..

to swap to new clipbanks deactive current clipbank plugins then select your new ones and activate in the same order as above.
follow the above and there will be no need to shut down VDJ to open new clipbanks.
hope that helps.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but this still is not working for me.
I am following the exact procedure above, and this is what happens:
1) When I install clipbank ver 1.2, I have ONLY the .dll and .ini files present in the video effects folder. I do NOT have the BMP file created until I actually open the clipbank one time. Then it self generates the BMP file called clipbank.bmp.
2) Now I copy all 3 files and rename as clipbank1.xxx and clipbank2.xxx.
3) I load up clipbank1. It looks fine. I go to load up clipbank1, and instead of having an empty preview box, it has the exact same box as clipbank1.
4) When I look in the video effects folder, there are 3 clipbank bitmaps: clipbank.bmp file, clipbank1.bmp, and clipbank2.bmp. The clipbank.bmp file is actually what clipbank1.bmp should be. The other 2 are empty.
So it appears that no matter what the dll is called, it self generates and populates a file called clipbank.bmp. I only am having this problem with ver 7. When I had version 5 (previously on same computer), it DID work exactly as Tayla described.

@Eric Sands
You need to copy and rename the Clipbank.dll and the clipbank.ini files Only, Not the clipbank.bmp file, then you will have to populate your new clipbank with video clips to use.
You also have to copy your "clipbank_random.dll file and rename it using the same name as your new clipbank, example; clipbank1_random,dll.
You will have three new files, clipbank1.dll, clipbank1.ini, clipbank1_random.dll, when you populate the new clipbank1 with video clips, you'll have clipbank1.bmp, a Total of four files for rach new clipbank you create.....
Once you do this, activate your new clipbank1 and then the new clipbank1_random. This will work...
Good Luck,
Joey...

you don't need to install it if your not going to use it, but it is a handy little plugin to have.

Here is the the link for the plugin http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/4505/Clipbank_Random_Video.html

OK I just tried copying the INI and DLL files only, and I get exactly the same problem. Both clipbank1 and clipbank2 are self generating a file called clipbank.bmp, which they are both using to overwrite each other.
Not sure if this is normal, but when I install the clipbank plug-in initially, I ONLY see a DLL file. In order to get the INI file, I must open VDJ and select & deselect the installed clipbank (but not load it). Then the INI file becomes present in the effects folder.

Eric, you have the same software that we have. If it works for us, then it will work for you. It is that simple. Try starting from scratch. Delete all clipbank files from your video effects folder, and start with a new clipbank.dll. As for the duplicates, I would skip using the number 1, since the original is 1. That is just my take, who knows.
Posted Thu 14 Jul 11 @ 11:29 am
That's what I keep doing... deleting all clipbanks and re-installing the plug-in every time.
Posted Thu 14 Jul 11 @ 11:34 am
Eric if you like you can contact me on skype at Firetext.VDJ.Support and I'll talk you through it.

Sorry Tayla - I'm not on skype. Can I call you? Send me a pm with your #. Thanks.
