Helllo All,
Does anyone have any experience, tips or tricks as using VDJ as a basic DMX controller?
Was thinking about buying something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Enttec-PRO-DMX-USB-Interface-PC-Based-512CH-70304_W0QQitemZ180278399480QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180278399480&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 and giving it a go, but I am fairly new to setting up light scenes/sequences, let alone with VDJ.
Any insight will be much appreciated!

At this moment only the Sunlite suidi boxes are supported, so the Enttec might be not a good choice if you plan to use it with VDJ. For more info I recommend to use the search function. Search for DMX and you will find some interesting discussions and some tips and tricks.

From what I can gather, VDJ's DMX control is pretty limited anyway - it seems to be one of those features that was added in the days of version 3.x and was rather forgotten about. However, there's plenty of free software that will support the enttec box though, I like the look of this one, a virtual Pulsar Masterpiece desk:

Or have a look at this site for loads of free DMX programs...

Or if you want a REALLY fancy lighting desk, Chamsys offer a virtual version of their MagicQ desk for free... and it works with the Enttec box, I used to use it myself at a 1500 capacity venue with 12 moving heads and 24 par cans - it never crashed once!
