I'm still having an overheated laptop. I placed a big fan underneath of the laptop. I am running Speedfan and the temperature of the CPU increases over 10 C as soon as Virtual DJ is loaded. It averages temperatures of 70 - 80 C then it hits 90 C and shuts down. The fan does not seem to help.
I tried a prrogram to change the voltage, but the Sager Laptop would not allow me to change the voltage.
The laptop is less then a year old, the fan works and there is no dust.
How can I bring the temperature down? Help

Maybe I should buy a better laptop. Can anyone direct me to a laptop which can handle Virtual DJ, videos, live camera, DMC2, Hercules,...etc.?
I want something reliable and will not overheat.

Yes I have read about the heatsink cooling compound. When I opend up the 3 doors below the laptop I did not know where I would put the cooling grease.

PM Tayla, I'm sure he will be able to run though on what he did and how he did it, then again he might be along here soon.

hi billy
as you know there could be different reasons for overheating, mine was the heatsink paste, to cure this after you taken the back off you will see two metal bars mine were gold connected to the fan these are attached over the processors with four screws but in my case there was six release these and slowly tease them from the lappy, now where the heat sinks were resting you will or should see a grey or white pastey gunge if theres not its "run" this is the medium that transfers the heat from your processors to the heat sinks
all you need to do now is get some heat sink compound cost is about £2.50 for a syringe and put a dab on each processor and i mean just a dab after that just put everything back together and you've saved £50 plus labour at pc world. hope this is your problem as it was mine because mine has run sweet since.... its not a daunting job as you may first think

I bought the Segar IFL90 last year.
Core 2 Duo Santa Rose
4GB Ram
7200 RPM
VVidia GeForce 8600 GT 512 MB
2.4 GHS
I tried the Artc Silver 5 Compound on the CPU / heatsinks but it still reached 80 - 90 C after running 2 videos on Virtual DJ for about 15 minutes.

i forgot to mention did you clean off all the old gunk?, check that your fan is clean and is kicking in when heating up and any air vents/filters are also free from built up muck, there should be a little sensor attached to the heatsink near to the fan usually, make sure this hasn't come loose,
i would recommend after checking these wait or contact cstoll or cel for further advice , if its been running fine until lately i would take it to a repair centre its no good getting a cold plate as there would seem to be more going on than that.
if it's still in warranty def' take back to shop, i had a problem with one of mine last year and in the end they exchanged for a new one with a cash refund because mine had come down in price, can't get better service than that.
hope you get it sorted because it looks like a nice machine

Yes I did clean off the gunk with rubbing alcholol. I also took off pads that were on there as well.
The fan is working but the air that comes out is not hot.

Your laptop could still be overheating, try blowing compressed air through the fans (obviously when the laptop is off), micro dust can build up really quickly, and powerful CPU's are more sensitive to it.

billy if its still under guarantee/warranty don't try anything else take it back to the shop as you may have already invalidated their repair terms....
