Topic: Serato & Numark teamed up. What haps to atomix?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

If no one has heard yet Numark and Serato have teamed up. Serato are making a new software called itch to integrate with the new numark controller. (itchy and scratchy how cheesy)

Just wondering how that affects atomix/vdj's coalition with Numark. Have they jumped ship? From what I can see its win, win for Numark. I see on the scratchlive forums that they feel its a step down in quality to cheesiness going with Numark.

Gotta give props to the Numark team for pushing the boundaries....

A little late bro. It's been on the forum all day. Now, I gotta get rid of these crabs, because no matter how hard I Scratch, I still have this Itch.

will be interesting to see how the software turns out. but i still think there is a lot of competition between ssl live and vdj to do before another software will do anything in the marketplace.

the Numark NS7 looks nice for beginner DJs, but as a veteran and advanced user, i would never buy it. it looks like a betty crocker easy-bake oven.

its been clear for almost a decade now that numark is more interested in the fact that every kid wants to be a dj. they are not interested in us vets anymore and dont make top-line gear. dont get me wrong its not bad, but it isnt top-notch. their gear was way better in the late 80s before they went super commercial.

There is a market for each area, Beginner/Budget, Experienced/Midrange, Professional/Top of the line. But it seems most manufacturers ,generally speaking ,pick just one market and concentrate on that market . I think they could easily come up with distinguishable ranges and make products for each market under those different ranges

I guess it's all about resources though (Research & Development), and now with the Industry in a state of rapid new developments in regards to taking advantage of the latest tchnologies, this would stretch those resources even further. So it's probably more unlikely now than it has been for a long time.
