Topic: LIST YOUR VIDEO LAPTOP IN HERE!

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I know this has been discussed many times before but list the laptop you use to play videos on.

Do not list laptops that you have had problems with.

List the specs and changes you made to the laptop as well.

Many of us are in the market looking for one so this will give us options!

hehe I'll start

apple macbook pro 17 glossy 2.6 :) using the mac version of vdj.

ugh... glossy is nice if you're a finook, but I prefer the matte screen... The choice of a real man! :)

and my laptop of choice is a 15" macbook pro running windows xp... and VDJ of course..

By the way, for those who remember the video out problem with the macbook from way back when? Leopard fixed that.. you can use the dvi to composite adaptor now...

:)

my notebook runs video quite well too. It is an AS Mobile Z96Jm. I bought it for the video card, and it was one of the first to come with an e-sata connector on board. I put a hitachi 7200rpm hard drive in it. This is a bare-bones notebook, so it is somewhat upgradable.... If you wanna know more... ask the internet.

Dell Vostro 1700 17" laptop
2ghz core2duo t7300
256MB Geforce 8600GT
Windows Vista (XP Caused video freezes)
4GB RAM (I know 32bit OS doesn't see it all)
2 Internal hard drives (1 for system, other for media)
M-Audio Connectiv USB Sound Card

Video mixing with TCV works almost perfect, I'd say it's 99% good. Latency set at 5ms when I gig. I can usually get away with 2ms, but once in a while I'll hear a pop or a little distortion.

hope that helps.

Macbook Pro 17"
2.33 ghz dual
3 gb ram
200 gb HD
256 ATI X1600 graphics
10.5 (Leopard)

I boot in Windows XP (via bootcamp) strictly for VDJ.
Fully optimized in XP. (All services off, no wireless, ect..)

The only problems I have with VDJ are; Timecode, Loops, Gains, Virtual Folders. I know thats a whole nother subject and are not issues with the computer and how well it works with VDJ but are development issues. As far as the computer...It works PERFECT with VDJ.

Interesting... I know the card had issues in XP (because of TurboCache). But if Vista fixes that, good ;)
Some had RiverTuner drivers installed on XP to fix certain Nvidia cards.

Mine is a Medion MD96500

100gb hdd
1024mb RAM
ATI Graphics

Only Lagging Problems when scanning new tracks during playout so I Don't do that anymore

Works ok, but slight lagging issues,

e.g. while playing a video on (deck 1), then searching 2nd video file on (deck 2) for cue point, I'll hear a pop or a little distortion sometimes?

But audio only works great.

Might have to go down the Expensive, Pocket Killing, (Break the bank) MAC road soon as there seems to be a lot of happy Mac users, Lol,

Dell Inspiron 1501
I had Vista But i upgraded to XP.............. Runs Beautiful now
AMD turion 64 X 2 2.0ghz
2 Gigs Of ram
Radeon Exress card 1150 256 MB ram
80 Gig HD but i dont store music in It. I use a WD passport 120 Gig External HD
15.4 inch screen

Dell Inspiron 6400 (same as the 1540 model overseas I think)
2gb ram
15.4" wide screen
Core 2 duo 2ghz
256mb ATI 1400 (128 graphics / 128 shared)
Vmix 5.3 1280x800 skin
Hercules MK1 Soundcard/Controller
7200rpm 80 gig hard drive

Took awhile to configure to get rid of the sound pops. Putting the graphics card into power saving mode helped. Once I found a good hardware and software configuration everything works fine the VOB's and MP3's load fast enough even through an external drive. I analyse tracks ok while playing music.
