Topic: Are 2 always better than 1? (soundcards)

i have a question about soundcards.
would it be better (run smoother, use less resources) to run dual soundcards for a main out and headphones, or just one 4.1 card?
I want to think running just one card would be easier, but was wondering if having 2 cards run would 1/2 the work on each?

Using one card would be better as this means there will be a lower latency.

When using more than one card there is an increased strain on your machine.
