Topic: Video Mixing with Virtual DJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

How does this work as far as setting up the hardware? It says that Virtual DJ can mix videos using the time coded vinyl, but I don't see any interface to connect the the computer with the vinyl per se.

Am I missing something here?

You need a soundcard, that has two stereo inputs, where you connect your turntables to.

You can even buy a complete solution, software, box and vinyls, called Numark Virtual Vinyl, which is Virtual DJ branded as Numark.

Or build your own system, using a good soundcard that does the task.
 
So I could use my old Serato interface?
 
Also, am I just mixing the video with out the audio? Or can I mix the audio and video if I'm mixing music videos for example?

You are mixing both at the same time. You also have the option to just mix video by itself, or just the audio by itself. Or mix the audio from one source to a video from another.
 
Thanks guys, appreciate all the help. So what I really need to buy right now is the time coded vinyl and software, or could I use my old Serato time coded vinyls?
 


You will be able to use your vinyls from Serato eventually, its working, but the plugin is still beta, not released yet, but will soon.
VDJ recently added "open source" timecode support, so any timecode is supported, if a plugin for it is made...

As of out of the box, VDJ supports the Serato vinyls somehow, but it gives a 6% pitch offset, and no needle drop, so it aint much good ;)
But will be 100% when plugin comes...

Until then, you'd need to buy VDJ timecode or Numark Virtual vinyl timecode yes

Hey Norway, its me again.
The Numark software that comes with Virtual Vinyl, It is the same as Virtual DJ Pro with all the features and the rights to download pluggins and all the stuff for pro users?

Its exactly the same yes, same right, same forum level, same access , same upgrades ;)

Its VDJ branded and resold as Numark.
