Topic: karaoke songs with and without a singer

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hello,

Some karaokesongs are with a singer that sings for the whole song.
Is it ment to be that people must sing harder when they want to karaoke or can you filter the singer away?

What you are observing I believe is multiplexed karaoke songs, the regular karaoke songs have NO VOCALS at all.

Ok thanks bryantpb,

Normally I work with vids, also for karaoke.
Now discovered CDG.

Can VDJ remove the vocal from multiplex, or is there a plugin, or does anyone know of software that will do it so I can use the files on VDJ. The file I use are DAT, MPG & AVI.

You can remove most of the vocals using the sound effect "vocals+" in your effects browser. But it reduces the quality of the song big time. There is no software out there that I have tried that will remove the vocals and leave the song sounding like it is supposed to.

Download the 6th one down the page>> by Deun Deun (Balance stereo/mono)

U could change the right/left audio mono it or stereo. In the way if ur .dat karaoke file only have the right channel with voices, u could elimate that totally playing mono in ur left channel or vice versa. I have use it B4 and it werk. Give it a try;)

regards.

Sunfly has a series that contain the song with vocals on the left channel and the instrumental (with backing vocals) on the right channel. If the singer is not that good you could mix in the vocals from the left channel ;-).
Ewout

If the multiplexed disks are of the series called "original footage" or similar, they tend to be VCD style files as opposed to CD&G (as they carry video footage too) these can be ripped using dvd decrypter and setting "stream processing" to whichever of the two audio streams you want. They are a lot like a multi language dvd in that there are mutiple audio tracks, one with vocals and music and one with just music.

For CD&G multiplexed disks it gets a lot more complicated, however there's info here that may help :-
