Topic: Any big feature missing in vdj ?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I want to know people opinion if there is some BIG feature missing in vdj or something its poor implemented and need rewrite or begin from scratch.
I dont mean any optimization or details.
I think with some extras visualizations and better database editing and managing vdj can afford any dj ( professional or not) needings.
Perhaps more controllers support ( as i read in other posts dev team is working hard on it).

I start this post because i think vdj is complete enough to satisfy any dj needings and wishes. I read in other posts many bugs, crashes, freezes ... So i suggest a 3 or 6 months of FREEZING vdj. This is very used in open-source. No more new features or big enhances. Only optimizations of code, some little improvements and tons of bugfixes ...

ej, not sure what you are getting at. there are a great many of us veteran djs who have been using vdj for a long time. it's stable and it work and its stable and it works (x 2).

If you know about software, then you should have noticed by now that 5.0r series are not final releases. no need for a code freeze, they are development code-lines and you use them at your own risk.

I dont refer to 5.0r releases. Please take a tour in the Bugs report forum or in many posts of this general discussion forum or you can read more in the pc technical support.
I mean in 5.2 or so, wouldnt be nice to stop adding new features and work in optimization and fixing bugs, integrating skins plugins and controllers ?
I think vdj as i said before is mature enough, with enough options and features. Its a very stable and good dj software as you said before.
Anybody needs a new feature ? Is there any important feature really missing in vdj ? This is my little poll.

Thanks in advance

did you check the 5.1 wishlist thread? you'll see there are lots of features that could be added, a shortlist is being collected by the dev team now.

I'm glad everyone does not think like you. As a registered user of this software, I am extremely happy with the product, and feel I have gotten my monies worth. I don't know how other companies work, but have gotten many fixes and upgrades from this company, on a regular and timely basis. They have not asked me for another dime. I am also very grateful to all the other registered users that have given so much of their time, to give us all the free plug-ins. The community here is top notch, and means a lot to me. I don't like everyone here, and don't care about the ones that don't like me, but I keep coming because most of us have one thing in common. We help because, we were helped. You can find criers everywhere, but I am not one of them. The software is not perfect, and I don't expect it to be, but it works for me everyday. If I have an issue, I come here and they help me. I also realize that I am not the center of the universe ( but will be), and don't go crazy if someone does not answer me in 30 seconds. Fortunately, these are only my views, and can not speak for anyone else.

I've been around since the 1st version, started with automix, Paid very little money and can't say enough how much return I have gotten for my dollar. I spent about $900.00 on PCDJ FX, Scratch, KJ Plug and it still sits in a box on my shelf not being used. When I started I loke to think I was a good DJ that could definately get a party started, but with VDJ I like to think of myself as a great entertainer that can keep a party going and going and going.

lol AMAHM

i thought i was the center of the universe..
nah and about vdj not beign perfect.....hell not even otares (reverse) satisfied me......not talking thrash about it ..but id rather be stuck with vdj ( alongside its problems..that the dev team are fixing .......) than to get a software that says that its the best and ......support....for a lack of better words...SUCKS!!!!!

jus my 2 cents

dj reaper

word reaper, hit the head on the nail. always spend a bit more for a bit less maybe if the support relationship is there.

its ironic cuz when you hang around here, you hear people complaining about SSL, bla bla bla. When you hang around the SSL forum, you hear everyone complaining about nothing changing fast enough.

I only have one gripe and thats with the skin of VDJ. Having tried out PCDJ i found the skin to be easier on the eye and much more professional looking and user friendly " with out the silly bullets by which you have to access several time should you wish to load music between Karaoke" compared to VDJ and CUE . Other than that i appreciate the great service the team give us and their free on going support and who knows what version 5.1 will bring, can't wait, I keep checking in the stockings to see if 5.1 has arrived and now the Mrs is getting worried that i have developed a fetish. I just hope she appreciates the Donkey Jacket i brought her for xmas as she wanted a fur coat. Have a good ony guys, i make no apoligy for my humour as it can only get worse.

Still dont have any answer: Is any big feature missing in vdj ? You can begin to list all features that are necessary to be implemented in vdj.
As i said before one period of freezing is commonly used in software development specially in open-source. It doesnt mean vdj sucks, or its garbage. Its let say a time to breath deep, relax and improving stability and performance. Its not the end of the world nor the end of vdj.
If vdj is 95% stable, you can improve till 99%.
Then you continue with the normal vdj develop.

One feature that I'd like to see is the ability to lock the sync of the tracks together so that once the beats are lined up, they stay in sync.

The software would automatically push or pull (nudge) the tracks to keep them locked together, even with old songs where the BPM changes (real drummer). Should work with full tracks or looped portions of tracks.

I'd like the ability to distinguish a legitimate demo user from the crackhead.

no, this is not particularly used in open source, this is used in ALL software development, but you are not partial to that information. stop posting in this forum, go look in the wishes forum and get all the answers you want.

if you know something about open source, then you would have to know how to go searching for information to get what you want.
