Forum: General Discussion

Topic: VDJ guys can you eventually do this?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm rootin for ya, I believe you can....before someone else does. Quoted from dj forums.com:
" Maybe what's really going to shake us up, as DJs, as artists, as musicians, is the release of a strong, initially basic, program that works the way we would expect (like Traktor and Torq) but adds a complex level of Ableton-like functionality - essentially making it the Technics of live remix / production.

If this thing is especially modular as well, with room for VSTs, rewiring, etc. then it allows the user to define his own level of complexity and his own level of involvement. You want to do the ones and twos thing? Sure you can do that. And you can do everything you would normally do on decks on this. But if you want to go deeper, that functionality is there".
Is that too ambitious. Just imagine how popular we'd be.

maybe this is possible already? never looked into it, but since vdj is midimappable, is there a midi slave sync? is it rewire compatible? maybe you could run both at the same and slave a timecode sync.

imho this isnt a good idea just yet to do in one software. it makes it much more complex and less stable. but certainly an innovative idea that will probably happen eventually...

VDJ is already Compatable with many VST plugins

Theres a forum dedicated to it.

sound processing vsts, but modular instruments? i doubt it, there is no sequencer. i'll have a go plugging in my microtonic vst with vdj and report back since it has its own sequencer. could be usefull to have auxilliary drum patters going.

but what i think he's talking about is merging vdj with a post-production tool like ableton

Actually, I do have some vst effects, which, unlike traktor is great. Then I was thinking with the sampler and two decks, you can get pretty creative.
Stability is great. I just need some hint to get the crakling from the effect sorted when I use my midi knobs on them.
