True, but still not the same quality. Peavey are not bad. The older amps that I have seen still working are Peavey, the sound quality are aceptable but its far far away from Crest CA-Series or Pro Series. Maybe the VS series from crest (entry level) have comparable quality to CS series from PV.

Im wondering how you came up that the Crest amps sound better than The PLX's??? If there were a difference i doubt if you would hear it anyhow.
Ive been using PLX's for years besides being light they have been the most trouble free amp I have ever owned. From what I hear ( I have not seen this) they do lack the super ummmph on bass but that is the case with all amps with non transfomer power supplies.

i've never had a problem with an amp not having enough umph evey with a itty bitty amps ive used they all will make your chest vibrate if you stand in front of it, hell even my qsc 240watt (@ 4ohms for total of both sides) will kick you in the chest with 4-15" thats only 60watts a speaker but they are a 105 spl rated so thaty may make the differance

QSC PLX here. We have 4-3402 and 4-3602. I just had a problem for the first time. The top two LEDs on one channel of an amp went out.
The only mod we have done to them is that we changed the flow of the fan to pull air through the amp from the front instead of blowing hot air on our legs.
On the back of the case you see the exhaust fans that assist in pulling the air through the amps to keep them really cool.

You guess it... It doesnt has the low end that have the CA´s. A very close friend had a full rack of PLX, but when he played in places where voltage peaks were below 110v or higher than 132v the amps gets into protection mode (as a mobile dj, I can tell you that you will never know how stable will be the voltage in all the venues you will play). He changed his PLX for RMX and he solved the problem, but I felt the PLX have better colour of sound. The RMX drives good the bass, but it doesnt do as Crest CA´s, as well MACRO-Tech has an excelent low end that CA doesnt have it.
As for the super ummmph that doesnt have amps without transformers... Have you heared Lab Gruppen? ;)

Good point about protection mode in the PLX. I have never had that problem in three years of 40+ gigs per year but I guess it could happen. The RMX series are just not as efficient. With that being said I have heard some killer systems with the RMX amps though. I have seen a few that sounded great and when I explored the rack I found Europower. Go figure.....
