This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I saw recently that no matter what people say in this forum people get pissed off. I am 30 years old and work at least 4 nights a week with 14 years expirience. I have tried every brand out there. I love pioneer I have had numark break other speakers last me 10 years. I hate when these others DJs who have just started get an attitude when they dont realize I have been there done that. Dont get an attitude or go off at me for my opinion, when you get the expirience then say something. Sorry I had to get it off my mind, I spend alot of time perfecting my equiptment.

know what your sayin jim, see some of the kids on here and there off on this or that, and i've done that, and its only ever been good when they did this and there the only people ever been and done that and of course they did it first, mind i will give one or two of them respect for their knowledge on computers, i wish i had only a fraction of what they know damn smart arses lol, i only had a piece of slate and chalk when i went to school hehe, but in life your always learning that is if some of them had the sense to acknowledge that which some of them don't or won't, listen and learn from everything you see in life has been my motto and i've done all right by it,

anyway your wanting to know how long i've been djing for? quick history, started off in the business as light jockey for local and national rock bands when i was sixteen and absolutely loved it could pick up where the light was supposed to be on a particular musician without ever working with them before, they were amazed and that used to give me a real buzz, then i was asked to be an entertainments manager/promoter when i was eighteen for a pub group in the north of england, used to get bands calling from all over the uk i got the pub group a good rep and record companies used to put on showcases, also hired local radio stations and djs we used to have one venue that held 1200 "legally" bustin' at the doors seven nights a week then one night the radio station forgot to send a dj down and guess what i nervously stepped in and loved it and the rest as they say is history, so been in the industry 34 year djing 32 years and working on average 4 nights a week as well as my "day job" and i'm still learning lol...glad i got that off my chest hehe

Tayla

we all hear ya jim. any idiot can get decks and music and call themselves a dj, but only time tells... been at it 17 years myself and am happy to call myself proper underground. dont play out much, only pick the gigs i want and play the music i like. it takes dedication to be part of a minority and still be positive about it. but music is a profound gift to mankind... might as well take proper advantage of it.

for all those who have opinions, let them have it, its the right of every free person. but with that comes the inevitable fact that most people have opinions they dont deserve because they dont have experience of the attitude of 'you can always learn something no matter what'

Tayla, I hear you about the day job. I have a day job on top of my 4 nights also. I have my own radio show 5 days a week from 3 to 7PM, this has also helped give me my knowledge of music, equiptment, and computers. Its good to hear from you guys....

Jim its not you, I am noticing more and more where, at least here in the U.S., people cannot just disagree. I believe it is a product of A.) the media, good arguments make for great T.V. B.) the two major political parties, if you think some person on the other side might have a good point you might leave your affiliation. Everything here is very divisive in order to achieve a groups goals. And it will rip this country apart if we don't learn to respect and appreciate a differing point of view. We can learn a lot if we take the time to listen and debate without malice or prejudice. I can't speak for anywhere else.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong, after all.....I am just a cave man.....

Peace

this is what i am against. i dont want to get anyone affended but, i thinks its fair for someone to learn how to blend than having a program do a auto mix for you. I have 21 years dj ying and for me its all about me doing it myself. i dont want a program to do a back spin, mix or other easy things. I am strickly looking for my music files to blend or scratch it myself they way i have always done so using the technics. Ive seen djs that can mix for nothing and i wonder how they get these gigs.. and then to top it all off, they have the wackest equipment ever. When i first started dj ying, i had a pair of technics 1600s, same motor as the 1200s and a Numark mixer. Now i have invested alot of money in my equipment because i love dj ying. Its a passion for to dj in front of a big crowd.

" i wanna be like Elvis , without the tassles , hire 8 bodyguards that love to beat up a$$holes "

i agree completely with TearEmUp ........ the lack of civility is scary ..... everyone acts like there on Jerry Springer

trying to understand the other guy is tough ... trying to accept that they are allowed to differ and that is the spice of life ... doesn't make for good television ........

i really believe that when we keep putting out these negative images and messages so constantly , that they start to become accepted as a norm , and that's how violence and other negative images on tv do become pervasive and the cycle churns on and on ........

Good point about the Springer show... All of western life has turned into a fast food drive in. Fast cars, fast food, fast tv, fast lives. No time to listen, no time to appreciate, no time to sit down.

i remember seeing running man (schwarzeneger, lol, now hes governor of cali) and thinking with a sick stomach 'that kind of tv will be a reality soon', and now crappy reality tv is everywhere and its getting more violent and flagrant every day

On the positive flipside, during the industrial revolution when smoke stacks were blotting the skies for the first time, the romantic poetry movement was born. the human condition has always pretty much been in the gutter, but there is always a part which reacts to the negative side and brings something profound forward. lets just hope that the age of aquarius (excuse the pun from the song) brings something profound to us.

YepYep...Couldn't have said it better!

I am through with giving advice, when someone comes at for useing a brand they don't like. MY Virtual DJ works extremely well and so does my equiptment and that all that matters to me.

The reason why advice is free is because it's useless.
