Topic: Why are my music files not in alphabetical order in VDJ

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

All my music files are in alphabetical artist order in sub folders on my External harddrive. But when I call the sub folders up in VDJ the files are not in alphabetical order they are all over the place.

Is there a way I can sort the files out in VDJ in alphabetical order. I\'m using the home edition version 3.4.1

Cheers

Cheers for that, but I can't find anything about sorting files in Alphabetical order (there might be another name for it ) or I might be being thick.

In the browser, "Title" click on that and it will put thing in alphabetical order.
If you click again it will change the order backwards.
You can also do this for the artist & bpm.

... and comments :)

I can't find this broswer option in my version. ( 3.4.1 ) or is it just in the pro version. Any ideas where I might find it if I have it.

just resize the fields and click at the top of each field

to sort

The sort is always Alphabetical -- Just need to choose which field you want it sorted on -- Artist or Title?

Go back and look at that post again and change the registry key for the correct field.

I actually thinks he's talking about sorting sub-folders in the far-left browser window, and not the actual tracks...am I right?
This wouldn't be handled by sorting by title or artist, now would it?

Thanks for your help, but I can't find anything that you are on about, but I've followed the link and open up the reg edit for VDJ and found the autosort. When I try and change the value to 3 for example it changes. But when I close it and reopen it it's back at 0.

What value (number) is it for, sort by artist?????.

I think I might give up on it as it's getting to complicated for me.

Don't give up ;)
Its well explained in that post but here goes:
"* AutoSort: automatically sort the data in the specified column of the browser
0 - disabled
1 - sort the first column
2 - sort the second column
3 - sort by bpm
4 - sort by time
5 - sort by commentary"
So, the first column by default is name of the track and second is Artist names, so for autosort you need to input number 2.
It should remember what have you set, try to hit enter when you change value.

I understand now. I've looked at the similar post you have answered and i've mangered to get tracks in bpm order by selecting 3.

Got to go out now but next time I have a mix I'll change the value to 2.

Ta very much mate.

Sorted, Cheer's DJ-ALF

Changed the value to 2 and then opened up VDJ and all my tracks were in alphabetical order.

Thank's

How do I put files in alphabetical order on VDJ when they are in alphabetical order on my external hard-drive but when I open it on VDJ its all over the place. Need to know how as I'm using it for a party.

What files are you talking about?
Your folders you'll see on the left side in the VDJ browser?
Or do you mean your tracks in the middle of the VDJ browser?

Make sure the song title are at the cursor. Enjoy VDJ.

If I have got your enquiry right, in browser area where it says "artist" click on that and it will show your files in alphabetical order top to bottom or bottom to top, whichever way you want to work it, this also applies to all of the other headers in your browser.

I hope it's a free party, you little scallywag... rofl.

9 year old thread. awesome.

Well what can you do, it's relevant to the thread, you can either dismiss it or reply and hope it's genuine.
