Topic: Is there a latency issue when using a hardware mixer for midi control?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

K, i'm about to buy the NUO4, so i'm goin nnuts looking u info on it, and reading people's reviews of it, and seems like everyone really likes it. 2 things that I have to question though. I am hoping to scratch video with this entire investment of mine that i'm about to make (Compuer, mixer, etc) I just saw a video over at agiprodj.com, it was a demo of the pioneer dvd setup, and how quick the reactions are with the hardware, no flicker, just no latency at all. Now, i'm planning to do some heavy scratching, 2 clicks, crabs, what ever (but with video)

So my 3 part question is :

a)Does the NUO4 crossfader control the xfader in the program, which in turn switches the video from a to b?

b)What kind of xfader does the mixer come with, since it says its "upgradeable" to a magnetic fader (rane style) and if I upgrade to that fader will it still be a midi controler?

and c)Do I have to worry about any lag time from the moment I touch the xfader, or any knob or button for that matter, to the time it reacts in the program?
