Topic: Anyone know the best setup for technics 1210mk2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have recently bought a techincs 1210 mk2 turntable to learn to scratch with.
I have not had alot of experience with turntables and am just wondering if anyone knows what height...anti skate and weight i should set the turntable too,to get the best performance from it and so i dont get jumping on the vinyl.
I have a concorde ortofon scratch needle.(new)

I know there are alot of factors that can make the needle skip whilst scratching, like technique and the centre hole of the vinyl been worn. i just want to make sure i have the right setup.

Antiskate = 0 (If your deck is absolutely level.

Weight = (Depends on your cardtridges) I think it's 4-4,5 grams for the Ortofon Scratch ones (U do know how to adjust the weight right?

Height = 0 - 2

I think theese settings are OK, but they're just for top of my head. I do think Ortofon has this info on their website.

ok ty for the info.

tell me please what cartridges did you bought?

whats up man,

i used to dj with the hercules rmx but now i wanna get into turntables and so i need some help setting up my equipment.

i just wanted to know how do you set up the turntable weights and the antiskates.

i mostly beat mix hip hop music but would like to start scratching into my mixes, not extensively though,

this is what i use for my equipment:

virtual dj pro 5.2.1
numark ttx tts
numark cc1 cartridges
numark ppd01 for a mixer
hercules rmx for a soundcard
ssl2 tcvs

ANY ADVICE AND SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME AND HIGHLY APPRECIATED! THANKS so much!

Adjust height to 3 and anti skate to 0. Make sure that your turntables are on a sturdy table. The needles in using is the Ortofon OM scratch. I have the weight placed halfway in the bar because i have a +4 G weight on the head shell. I dont want the needles to press down to much on the vinyl cause your needles will wear out fast. dont make the weight heavy. The more closer forward you bring it, the more weight. the more back you push it, the less weight.
