The only thing stopping me from buying virtual dj studio is that I have lots of playlists in traktor dj studio 3 that having taking several years to complile.
If there was an easy way of importing the playlists I would switch

what format are they?

I'm going to learn how to handle XML files with VisualBasic (or such RAD software, I don't want to spend too much time with VC++). This way I'll be able to convert .NML files to .M3U, which are compatible with VirtualDJ. Anyway, I don't understand how to convert BPMs and gain in order to add these information in the VDJ database. If you just need playlists, I'm quite sure I'll be able to convert them into M3U, but don't expect (for now) that I'll convert also speed and gain info.

pro users aslo have acess to a database update tool , to import large number of files to your database with info based on the id3 tags.

They are in .nml format and hold the song info and its location on the hard drives.
I could really do with being able to easily convert these into playlists in VDJ as I have about 100 seperate playlist in traktor

I can only try to convert them in M3U format, which means I might only convert the location, not the song info (I mean BPM and gain data).

That would be great and save a lot of problems, I dont mind having to analyse them all again, its the location I really need as I have approx 85,000 tracks on 3 hard drives and the playlist have picked out the ones I use on a regular basis from throughout the collection and I really dont fancy printing out the playlists and searching for them in VDJ to build playlists again as it would take months

I'll try to learn how to handle XML files then ;)

for similar reasons i still have pcdj red. red's ini files are so important to use in Excel where i organize my music. Until vdj comes with some way to organize music in excel where i dont have to manually type the file info im still with pcdj red.
Red can store file info in ini files. first column bpm, artist, track, year, comment, location and add other colums, have that organized in Excel. you can have so many workbooks or organize playlists without even dealing with the program.
this is really important to some of us. i understand ur pain working with these played out dj programs just coz of ONE feature.

can use playlist from winamp?
Posted Wed 21 Feb 07 @ 8:36 pm
Yes, you can export M3U playlists from Winamp and play them.
If I remember well (I haven't used it for a long time), Traktor doesn't support such playlists.
