Topic: VDJ "internal database is corrupted" error message

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm having driver compatibility issues with my Ecler Nuo 4 -- this has now affected VDJ in that now when I start up VDJ it says "the internal database is corrupted"... And all my analysis of files, and comments (which were quite extensive) are gone. Anyone know if there's a way to recover these? Any way to fix the corrupted database? Thanks in advance for any help!

sorry bud, but you'll need to re scan everything... it's gone!

next time, back up your virtual dj database xml and keep it in a safe place...

I learned the hard way too!

set aside a few days for scanning!

:)

actually there is a way to correct any database corrupted. Very often it's only a little error.

Open your file with pad or word and edit it.

Look how the information are listed and respect the general syntax.

It is a long and boring work I know :s

Good luck

In general it's the first line in the xml which isn't at the end with / before

@Steve Lynch
Maybe you have a different problem then, not at the beginning of database? Is database always corrupted at the beginning? I use 3 backups (after every night I play), so if one goes, there's always 3 for me ;) !

sure it is strongly recommended to save your current database in a safety place (not at the bank lol).

As far as I am concerned I have three several version of my database in my VDJ root folder

VirtualDJ Database.xml
VirtualDJ Database.xml.bis
VirtualDJ Database.xml.bis.bis

Every week I delete VirtualDJ Database.xml.bis.bis and I rename VirtualDJ Database.xml.bis into *.bis.bis

and I rename VirtualDJ Database.xml into VirtualDJ Database.xml.bis

I keep a copy of the last file as the proper VirtualDJ Database.xml

And the three files are saved in another place (a partition devoted to the backup).

This file is as important as that your music :)

What kind of information do you all put in the comments field? Just curious... I used to have very specific information about what happens at different timepoints, but became too much to read when choosing tracks on the fly... Nowadays I tend to only put very simple statements about the overall tone/mood of the track. What do you all put in the comments ?
