Does VDJ work on iPad like Algoriddim? Or only remotely? Because it doesn't seem to work remotely anymore, I believe.

Thank you for the clarification. However, I don't see the point in using a laptop and another device as a remote. Ideally, they should be used as a single unit, either an iPad or a computer.

IMO if you don't see the point, then you don't need the remote and you don't need to worry about it.

You may not see the need, but that doesn't mean it's not useful.
I use the remote to control things like volume, choosing next songs from my phone/tablet, when I'm away from the DJ booth (e.g. when having dinner at the table for a wedding).
There are many other use cases two - including and extra set of controls for the software that you can add on to help you DJ. Thinking a little outside the box would have made that more obvious.
You use remotes all the time - a controller is even a wired remote for your software.
