Topic: Virtual DJ works on Ubuntu (Debian) Linux either in Wine or using WinBoat
I've been doing some testing with different versions of Linux based OS's and have found that the Debian based versions will run VirtualDJ in Wine or under WinBoat (Windows based Virtual Machine).
So far, i've tested all versions of Ubuntu (Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu, Kubuntu), Linux Mint 20 and 22, Suse Linux, and Zorin OS.

Windows 11 24H2 and above collects data on you, your use, your internet traffic and so on. This is a Privacy Law violation both in the USA and in Europe. There is a massive exodus from the Windows OS and users are going to either Mac OS or Linux OS.
Windows 12 is going to be a subscription OS meaning you won't be able to buy Windows 12 outright. The Subscription fee's are (Home Version) $6.99 a month, (Pro Version) $11.99 a month or Yearly $89.00

I would Encourage programmers to port Virtual DJ to Linux asap using the Debian core.

Literally 2 seconds of Google...

"No, consumer versions of Windows 12 are expected to remain a one-time purchase, not a subscription, though speculation arose from code snippets and Microsoft's push for AI & Microsoft 365, but reports confirm this is misinformation, with potential subscriptions likely for business cloud services like Windows 365 or advanced features, not the core OS for general users."

I'm trying different versions of VDJ now in Linux and it's not looking great. I never liked Windows and looking to move on from MacOS for reasons I won't go into here. I think eventually VDJ will make the shift and develop a Linux version it's just going to take time for enough of the user base to switch to justify it. I think open source will become more and more appealing as time goes on and proprietary companies do more to lock things down. Ubuntu Studio for creators is pretty cool and has low latency and other tweaks out of the box. Maybe VDJ performs better on other versions? I hope Atomix does develop one because mixxx isn't even in the same universe in terms of what I need.

Once again, the problem isn't getting VirtualDJ to run on Linux really (myriad of distributions and library layouts aside). The problem is the ecosystem is not ready for professional use, when professional hardware is taken into account.
This is different from a DAW - most DAW users use simple hardware or no hardware at all, i.e. professionals don't necessarily need controlling hardware to do the job to the standard expected. In the DJ world, virtually nobody in the professional realm does the job without (relatively intricate/complex) hardware. You can look at Mixxx's hardware support page to get an idea.
Even if you get it running with Wine or other emulation platform, the latency introducrd due to emulation/passthrough will most likely be unacceptable.

So your fight is actually with the the hardware makers - when you get them to seriously consider putting out mainstream hardware with drivers on Linux, then it would make sense to put effort there.
The same issue is readily apparent for iOS - most controllers do not work completely there for the same issue. Platforms like DJay are trying to change that, but their hands are still tied by the OS and hardware developers.
