Topic: Spotify.....any news soon?
Hello all! Seeing more and more platforms adding Spotify support, I want to ask, is this something that we can have in VDJ? To me personaly trying Tidal and Spotify, I have to admit that what brings me to Spotify are the better playlists, and cheaper pricing than Tidal, at least in my country this is the case. I would love to see Spotify added soon.

Enjoy Deezer, my friend!
Cheaper, and much more respect for music and musician there.

Not cheaper if you already use Spotify (or Apple music as I do) for that matter anyway though.

Well if you already use one service, there's not much point signing up to another one that provides a pretty much identical library. It's as easy as pie to switch, as I've done myself a few times over the years.

The services available in VDJ cover most use case scenarios already, so IMO there's no real NEED to add Spotify, or Apple Music, YouTube Music etc. etc. other than "keeping up with the Joneses".

Thank goodness we're not on the Traktor forum. They've been stuck with just Beatport/Beatsource for years.

Well, previously, I subscribed to Spotify family, plus Deezer and Soundcloud for my DJing hobby (I'm not pro, so I don't have any revenue). The recent moves of Spotify, the way they consider music and musicians, this finally make me decide to leave Spotify and we migrate to Deezer family.
At the end, I pay less, and I'm more aligned with my own moral values. I'm not saying everyone should think / do the same, obviously. But this was my move and I'm happy with it.

How does the Deezer plug in work for people using it. I never really use it but on the rare occasion i have needed it , Deezer only shows a maximum of 50 results. Using Deezer outside of virtual DJ i get a lot more. I have had instances where searching Deezer within Virtual DJ i have got no results but the track has been found using the actual Deezer app.. Are people using a different plug in that i should be looking at. Thanks a million

When searching for something why do you need 50 plus results? Just curious.

For well known artists 50 results may be more than enough for most. However if you do the same result in the Deezer app it brings up hundreds. For lesser known artists it may only bring up a few, sometimes none. Like i said i have searched within virtual DJ for songs and had no results returned yet using the same search criteria has found the track in the Deezer app.

A rather crude and basic example is to type Beatles in and it doesn't bring up I wanna Hold Your Hand or She Loves You. Maybe if there were more than 50 it would.

I am not knocking it, i love having it.

I would never ever rely on an online music source, however it would be great to have one that really works well. Virtual DJ's implementation of Deezer within the app is a great bonus but it does need a bit of love and attention. I am also a big fan of Deezer as well.

As i said I am glad it's there and i don't use it. It's like my central heating, i don't use it during the summer but i am glad it's there and works when i need it. I am not complaining about it all i wanted to know was is there a way to change the search properties to give more results.

The key to getting the results you want is to be specific. Rather than search for just Beatles, if you want She Loves You, search for Beatles She or Beatles Loves (etc).

The method applies to any streaming service, and even your own library. If what you're searching for is generic, add something to narrow it down. It can also help to search for the album that a track is on, rather than the track itself.

IMO DJs tend to search for certain songs, not entire artist libraries.

I was using the search for the Beatles as an example. I am not searching for entire release history of Artists. Bottom line is there are only 50 results when you search and that was the point i am trying to make.

As i have previously said on the very few occasions i have tried to use it i have had a couple of times where a song has not been found. However i find it instantly in the actual Deezer app.

I am not trying to DJ using Deezer, that would be absolute madness. The (in my experience) mixed results i get from it are a bonus and i thank the VDJ team for having some sort of implementation of it.
If it found 1 song out of 10 that i didn't have in my library then that's a win.
It has helped me out on more than one occasion. It doesn't stop me wishing it worked better for me. If other people are happy with it then that's great for them too. I am not searching for mainstrean stuff i have physical copies of all that, it happens only with less mainstream items.

Thanks all

I know it was an example. So was mine.

TBH as kradcliffe said, I don't really understand why anyone would need more than 50 results when looking for something. Surely the idea when searching is to narrow things down, rather than want more results?

I regularly DJ using Deezer (and I'm not mad). Of course not every track is in their catalogue, same as any streaming service, but if it were causing me issues, I'd have moved on by now.

Maybe rather than using the Beatles an an example, explain in detail what you're searching for, and why you need over 50 results.
