Dear VirtualDJ Team,
I hope you’re doing well.
I’ve been using VirtualDJ Remote on my iPad as part of my DJ setup for years, and I truly appreciate the flexibility and control it provides. However, I’ve encountered a persistent issue when using the app over a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi. The app either fails to connect or crashes unexpectedly, making it unreliable in professional environments.
To troubleshoot this, I have performed several tests:
1. Wi-Fi Connection: The app works flawlessly when connected via Wi-Fi. There are no crashes, and the connection remains stable.
2. Wired Ethernet with DHCP: When connecting the iPad to a wired network using an Ethernet adapter with DHCP enabled, VirtualDJ Remote fails to connect or randomly closes.
3. Wired Ethernet with Static IP: Assigning a static IP to the iPad manually within the Ethernet settings resolves the crashes and improves stability, but this workaround should not be necessary.
4. Router vs. Direct Connection: Testing with and without a router between the laptop and iPad yielded similar results—without a properly assigned IP, the app does not work correctly.
5. Multiple iPads and Adapters: I have tested this on three different iPad Pro 2017 (12.9-inch) models, all running iOS, using different Ethernet adapters. The issue is consistent across all devices.
Given that wired connections offer greater stability and lower latency—essential for professional DJ setups—I kindly request that VirtualDJ Remote be fully optimized for wired Ethernet use in a future update. This would eliminate the need for manual workarounds and enhance the reliability of the app in demanding live performance scenarios.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope to see this improvement in future updates.
Best regards,
