Topic: Optimal settings for using Phase in HID mode with VDJ
I've done a few searches have not found anything yet. I've been using Phase with VDJ the integration is okay but it's not as tight as in Serato, sometimes loading up songs studders, and during beat matching songs fall out of sync this with or with out beatlock turned on. Also when nudging songs to keep them in time, it goes really fast.

Let's start with:

  • What mode are you using Phase in (DVS or HID)
  • What settings do you have already setup?

Phase won't work exactly the same as with Serato...that's not the aim....it's whether or not it works for playing the songs/mixing well enough, within the realm of how VirtualDJ works.
There are things that Serato handles differently than VirtualDJ in terms of DVS and HID processing (Serato may function a bit faster with pitch updates, and it has an anti drift implementation as well) as well as sync (sync and beatlock is a whole different beast in VirtualDJ, and I personally don't use either because you have to be smart with using them to not trainwreck, as turntables naturally have wow and flutter that fights sync). However, record manipulation seems pretty similar to me (that and BPM change response is what constitutes tightness to me).

I've personally never experienced stuttering on song load (I have keepPlayingOnSongLoad on and no deck security).
Nudging is similar on both platforms to me too (I've not noticed any real difference there).

If you are using it in DVS mode, then all the timecode settings apply too.

So I'm using HID mode, VDJ configured things automictically, I did calibrate in both VDJ and Phase. And I made sure VDJ was selected and the Phase software. But the trainwreck effect you mentioned yes I've experienced that.
