Topic: Auto History Year & Month Folders stopped creating but individual dates are still appearing
Very bizarre for some reason my VDJ has stopped automatically creating both the History year & month (1-12) folders??? i.e. I have all previous years & months right up to '+11' (November 2024) but nothing since then??...

It's still saving the individual dates of gigs which is the most important thing so gig track played history is still there, but there's no way to file them afterwards into their relevant month & year like before as I do a number of gigs I have to meticulously file every gig into to month by date to declutter & organise history drop down but to also easily recall a specific gig in the future.

So far I'm now missing the auto generated

2024 - '+12' Folder (Dec 24)
2025 - '+1' Folder (Jan 25)

I'm on VDJ 2025 b5025 on Pro Licence - I've tried uninstalling VDJ a few times even going back to older versions but they all come back missing the last 2 months folders

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated to fix this or alternatively a way I can manually add the missing folders moving on as there is no option to right click & 'add folder' on 'History' as you can on other folders,

It looks like when you renamed the folders to include the event name, you also changed the date format, so vdj won't recognize the date.
If you want them to be sorted automatically you should keep the date in the format as virtualdj created it

Thanks Adion I appreciate your reply &I understand what you are saying, however what confuses me is that I've renamed them for the last 10yrs + & never had an issue until Dec 24 when it's stopped creating the folders.

If I'd only started renaming them recently it would make total sense of course, but I haven't.

What I do hasn't changed but the system has stopped generating the both the month & year folders

I've even tried manually creating the folders in the VDJ program folder & they appear in VDJ when opened but are locked & you drag & drop any of the files to them ?

So inside the year month subfolders you do have playlists that you renamed to mmddyyyy?

yes that's right every single month for last 10+YRS have been renamed from vdj automatic date format ie. 'year-month-day' to (2025-01-20) to the following format ....' daymothyear + name of venue & what show etc (200125 The Pub Name & 80's show etc).... every month in every year has had this rename done to it to date.

Like I say never been an issue every month a new month folder would appear without fail & in Jan a new year folder too.... but now nothing it's just stopped without obvious reason?

And you didn't rename them after they were moved before?

Yes correct .... I renamed it before I moved it..... as when I found I could rename them, then drag & drop into the relevant month in batches i.e. end of the month do every gig in one go rename each date & drag & drop it in to the '+' month folder & if necessary & re order into date order if needed, have done it that way for good 2-3+ yrs.

### Quick update ### Since I got home I've just had some limited success in that following your suggestion about VDJ date formula I have just renamed all the back logged history files back to their VDJ date formula only & it's now just added the missing December '+12' folder back in to 2024 year folder which is great news....

However, there's still no 2025 year folder or a '+1' (January folder) for this year to put my existing gigs in to so just need to master how to get that one back & hopefully we're all good again all be it still confused why it just stopped working.

You can add the relevant folder in Windows Explorer and just move the files over manually to fix for now.

You won't get a 2025 or Jan folder yet, history from this year will just sit in the history parent folder for some more days.

Ok thanks for confirming ....I always thought the new month folder appeared as soon as you started having individual date files following gigs /use etc.

Hey Kradcliffe thanks for this ..... I tried opening VDJ folder in explorer, adding the 2025 folder manually but i was trying to drag & drop the history files actually in VDJ itself but I just tried it in explorer & it let me do it thanks
