Don't use the appstore edition
Like all other software from the appstore, it's limited in what it's allowed to do and work with on the laptop
Install this instead:

I’ve downloaded that one you sent me. Virtual dj 2023 and it’s applied on my Mac but how do I use it. If possible you can call me and walk me through it. It only gave me a. Blue folder

if your on a mac the external drives must be formatted in a way that MAC supports

 
Yes they’re formatted correctly for the most part to my knowledge. It appears on my desktop and I can play the music from harddrive o my iTunes
