Topic: Midiclock out doesn´t work!
SveninoPRO InfinityMember since 2009
So, after hours of trying, I guess I really am about to go crazy!
I can´t get VDJ to give out a midi-clock signal!

- Put midiclock to controller (loopbe):

and even two other controllers (korg nano and launchpad s)

- switched "midiclock_active" on and off ! on and on and on...

but with 3 (!) different controllers (korg nano AND launchpad AND loopbe) in the Destination application there is not a SINGLE signal coming from VDJ

I started several songs with play button

THE MIDICLOCK-OUTPUT IS SIMPLY DEAD!!!!
What´s the matter with this???
Please help!

The target application is a standalone version of Steinberg's Groove Agent. And this app receives midi notes from my Launchpad S, which is connected to VDJ and declared as "midiclock output" there.
(So the buttons from the Launchpad trigger the drumsounds of the target, whilest not a SINGLE midiclock signal comes from the active VDJ!!!

Where's the joke there, I can't laugh anymore....

So: do I have to restart VDJ every time I assign the midiclock output to another controller?
Or when does VDJ send midiclock signals at all?
(When a song is playing, when I change the tempo, or when?).
VDJ is used by many professional users (and I am one of them).
I have gigs in a few days.... So please help!

Yes It's a pity to get something, even those working thing before b62xx do not work
I got a patialy "Freestyler MIDI Remote" working but "not midi controller" message appears with stems... ^^
no other midi appears in mapper anymore
VDJ killing all midi chain as it used to

VDJ randomly sends 2 messages in chain (between 5s and 20s during tests) while playing (any track)
F8 "MIDI clock tick"
94 00 00 "chan5 note 0 off"

should send only F8 and 6 times per MIDI beat (1/16th note)
FE "Active sensing" may be optionally send every 300 milliseconds max when no other message was send
windows MIDI updates have to reboot ^^

[02:55] Assigned Keyboard, type:0, index:1
[02:55] Assigned Freestyler MIDI Remote Control, type:0, index:1
[02:55] Assigned autoexec, type:0, index:5

works fine here with the newly created port (port2 loopbe1 name: autoexec)
receice FA "Start" FC "Stop" F8 "Clock"

play ==> Stop Start
stop => stop sending clock

the freshly updated loopbe1 is working as needed

Freestyler (port 1, rtpmidi name:Freestyler) goes on receiving F8 94 00 00
(maybe two type:0, index:1 is a way to investigate ?)

Thank You, but sorry: Did everything as in link and video above explained.
And it´s NOT working.

Sorry, but I want to use the incredible creative power of Groove Agent with Virtual DJ and my next gigs are getting closer... So I have to get VDJ surely send midiclock-data out...

Dear Nicotux: What are these commands, where do I put them.
Did You have to install a second loopbe to get the midiclock signal out of VDJ?
And how can I easy and shure monitor the midi-signals?
Do You use a kind of Midi-Radar to show the signals?

So far I've seen a lot of midi notes in my live, but I don't think my midi input lamp from the slave program (Groove Agent) lights up at midiclock tempo.
So MidiClock seems to be an invisible fluid....

update:
Installed MidiOX and this now monitores
FA - START
F8 - Timing Clock
FC - Stop

So at the moment VDJ sends out everything via LoopBe.
Just activated "Midi-Clock" at LoopBe by rightclick in Mapper.

Now I will trie to sync the Groove Agent and report success here.
Thanks Nicotux and Rune for now

Just had a phone-call with steinberg support.
The friendly employee suspects that maybe GROOVE AGENT can´t sync it´s tempo to midiclock input!
(Cubase definitely can´t work as a midiclock slave and so all the VST working within Cubase are cut off from the outside midiclock world!)
Can You imagine this?
A professional drummachine which cannot be controlled via midiclock?

Anyway, the steinberg staff will mail me, if he finds a solution...
