Topic: Display MusicBee in browser in the same way as iTunes

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey, I'm just wondering if it is possible to have your MusicBee library/playlists etc. display in the browser tree/menu in the same way that your iTunes library/playlists appear? Thanks!

Havent used that program, but a quick look at it, it seems like you can export playlists.
So that way they should work fine in VirtualDJ. Export to a location you prefer, and add that location as "bookmarked/favorite" folder in VirtualDJ

In MusicBee:
Preferences > Library > playlists > exported playlists and set up your parameters.
Then right-click on a playlist and select export playlist.

Thanks Rune,

That does work but that way you need to re-export every playlist any time the playlist is updated in MusicBee to reflect those changes in VDJ.

I was wondering if it was possible to work in the way that iTunes appears in the browser tree and automatically syncs your playlists so each time VDJ is opened or if you right-click iTunes and press 'reload', you will be able to view your current iTunes library/playlists.

I think this is probably only possible though due to the option in VDJ to specify your iTunes Library database file whereas there is no such option for MusicBee or other music library managers except for serato/traktor.

iTunes stores it's playlists fundamentally different from MusicBee.
iTunes uses (via a configuration in it's settings) an easily parsable XML file for the playlist contents.
With MusicBee you can use conventional .m3u files or MusicBee-specific .mbp playlists.
Via the settings you can choose any location you want for your playlists and if you opt for the former playlist format, Virtual DJ will be able to read them.
Just browse to the location, add it as a favorite and you're set.
